pirate hight times dvd at ebay. help
somedays ago i won high times dvd at ebay.
Ebay link

i recived today and i tihnk is a pirate copy, but i need help to confirm.
the dvd comes in a plastic slim dvd case, and as far as i know the official one comes in a kind of paper box (please confirm about different countryes releases). this one comes from poland, bt it haves some advertisement in german or austrian (or other language i'm not sure) both in the backcover and in the dvd.
in the cover it gots 2 "stickers" "24 greatest hits exclusive jay kay interview" and "parental advisory" but they are just printed in the cover, and are not real stickers.
the dvd is silver and well printed but the only letters written on the dvd itslef are a short reference and not the dvd number or anything related to sony.
the quality of the images is not real HQ but i notice din some other posts that some official ones were a bit bad quality in some aspects.
so can you help me confirming is a pirate dvd so i can report to ebay about it?
thanks

Freigegeben ab 12 jahren gema:ss (paragraph) 14 JuSchG FSK...

Given for free (ab) 12 years (gema:ss), 14-th paragraph (JuSchG FSK)

(Can somebody translate the stuff in the brackets?)

The DVD seems to have been pressed... I never thought pirates do that... Confused

If it helps, my legitimate DVD cover has this same information on it. The case itself is paper (digipak material).

Hi Iñaki,

My DVD artwork is indeed from cardbox and on it are those two stickers you mentioned.

I thought I had the UK version but I also have that 'Freigegeben ab 12 jahren' crap. The disc itself looks similar on the topside, the only difference is that the printing on my disc is covering the entire dvd while your's has this inner circle.

the bootom side is indeed with (twice) the sony-BMG logo and a whole lot of numbers including the catalogue number (mine is 88697019979).

The universal productcode (the barcode) of your dvd is the same as mine 8 86970 19979 7 (which I realise now is the same as catalogue number). I'm not sure how many versions are on the market and what catalogue numbers they have.

so if our dvd should be identical due to the catalogue number then you've been had.

if you need pics, then let me know

hi inaki,
your first two images do not work so i cannot tell with the case but as for the actual dvd my Uk copy is the same with german writing in the triangular box and sony is not burnt onto the inner of the dvd.

I remember when i received it on the release date how cheap i thought it looked compared to other cases and a bit flimsy too.
but yours does not look like a cardboard over digipak case, it looks like the usual dvd cassette.

Inaki, I'm just looking at the actual disc and, in comparing mine to yours, I'm noticing a number of differences. Your disc is missing the Columbia logo, the anti-copy information and the 100% Playability text. It is also missing the tracklisting - on mine, it has been printed around the edge of the disc. Finally, on the reverse, I have barcode-like marks around the centre as well as numbers (including the catalogue number) accompanied by 2 small Sony BMG logos.

I really hope this helps you.

Iñaki,

I've taken a close look at my DVD and there are multiple differences.

First, as I already said in my PM, my cover is a cardboard sleeve cover of the digipak style. The two stickers are indeed self adhesive stickers stuck onto the cardboard. The cover opens like a book and stuck inside the left there's a leaflet with information and photos.

The label of my disc looks like yours, but your disc is missing some details. Namely the Disk Copy Control and the 100% Playability text. The text around the edges of the disc is different on mine. And mine also has copyright information for the tracks, ie "Tracks 02, 03, 04, 05 (P) 1994" etc printed at the edges of the disc.

Finally, on the reverse, I have barcode-like marks around the centre as well as numbers (including the catalogue number) accompanied by two small Sony BMG logos.

The piratery NEVER sleeps!!!
If someone think people dont sell a dual layer disk. then youre wrong!
for me it is a copy to 90%
OK there stands "ist freigegeben ab..."
thats german so i take a look at my german dvd
i looked at my dvd it looks different.
At the border of my dvd you can read like on yours: SONY BMG... all rights reseved..."
But at my dvd you can read the whole border along not like on your only the half border

i think you have contacted the sellber about that???
and you should contact ebay about that
under "my ebay" you can contact ebay
at first print the auction save all emails you have from the buyer and yours save a copy of your bank statement where stands the money delivery to the seller and if your auction costs more than hmm i think 25 euros and 14 pounds you can get a part of your money back.
!you have to handle quick!
of course it isnt a big drama what happened but if no one say a word, more of these "pirates" sell copies on ebay.

thanks all for your info and help!
is much apreciatted.
now i'm 100% sure is a piracy copy.
starting from the fact that this comes in (medium)slim dvd box and not in digipack dvd box, the printed and not sticked stcikers, the antipiracy, sony etc logos missing, to the fact that the dvd itslef is lower quality with 4,29 Gb, dvd-5 and not dvd-9.

so, thanks all for your help. i will report ebay about this (and paypal to get my money back) so hopefully this user will not scam more people.

Sounds to me like a very good fake. The 'DVD' logo in the disc is too big, something pretty common in pirated copies.

I have a pretty decent pirate copy of AFO too, including DILWUTD.

Contact someone at ebay, my advice is.

D!
