Jaco Pastorius
Anyone else a fan of Jaco? For my money one of the greatest electric musicians ever, his influence on bass playing is comparable to Hendrix's on guitarists but sadly not as well known.

Jaco rocks
Just brilliant: he proves to be the most important recording in the history of the electric bass.
Noone will surpasse him

Pfffffffffffff... well, OBVIOUSLY we're fans! Incredible player, and a great composer too...

Jaco to Joe Zawinul, the first time they met: 'My name is John Francis Pastorius III, and I am the greatest electric bass player in the world.'

Zawinul: 'Yeah, right, fuck off kid.'

By the way, have you ever heard Joe Zawinul speaking in his mother tongue? He has a strong Austrian accent from Vienna, just funny, I think it's the most funny German accent there is. Wink

I wouldn't understand a word of it if I DID hear him speaking German... I've shaken his hand, though. Wink

Jaco to Joe Zawinul, the first time they met: 'My name is John Francis Pastorius III, and I am the greatest electric bass player in the world.'

Jaco said the same to Pedro Aznar, a great bass player from Argentina, when they met in Rock in Rio, Brazil. Pedro is a big fan of Jaco, and he was very nervous when he first met him.

Jaco is inspiration, Jaco is something complex and brilliant. And don´t forget of Weather Report!
