Jaco Pastorius
Anyone else a fan of Jaco? For my money one of the greatest electric musicians ever, his influence on bass playing is comparable to Hendrix's on guitarists but sadly not as well known. |

Pfffffffffffff... well, OBVIOUSLY we're fans! Incredible player, and a great composer too...
Jaco to Joe Zawinul, the first time they met: 'My name is John Francis Pastorius III, and I am the greatest electric bass player in the world.'
Zawinul: 'Yeah, right, fuck off kid.'

By the way, have you ever heard Joe Zawinul speaking in his mother tongue? He has a strong Austrian accent from Vienna, just funny, I think it's the most funny German accent there is. _________________

I wouldn't understand a word of it if I DID hear him speaking German... I've shaken his hand, though.

Jaco to Joe Zawinul, the first time they met: 'My name is John Francis Pastorius III, and I am the greatest electric bass player in the world.'
Jaco said the same to Pedro Aznar, a great bass player from Argentina, when they met in Rock in Rio, Brazil. Pedro is a big fan of Jaco, and he was very nervous when he first met him.
Jaco is inspiration, Jaco is something complex and brilliant. And don´t forget of Weather Report!
