GIG IN THE SKY - Review from CosmicMouse
Part III - Afterparty in Athens
7.00 pm
We are landing in Athens. Arriving at the terminal we just run in the after party. It's already crowded - full of business- and sony ericsson people. We are filming some scenes again. I am calling Sandra and giving her the setlist from gig one. They also film this... Sandra did you notice?
But now I am getting nervous. I wanna see the stage - it's already full and the first rows are crowded. The gig is about to start soon and I have no good place... I decide to find a way to get to the front. A bit cheeky I push myself to the second row and see 3 guys in front of me. I am asking them if they are "real" jamiroquai fans - if not I'd love to swap places... (I can't believe I said that... lol... not my manner, normally)... but it turns out that I asked the right persons. They are indeed SE workers and not so much jamiroquai fans - but first they want to make me believe they ARE big fans. A funny conversation starts and we are debating who the bigger fan is. (in a funny way - those guys are hilarious - later they start singing: "CosmicMouse is in the house"... )
Ok, I put out some jamirotalk flyers, asking them if they have ever heard of this site. "Errrr... no... whats that?"
I said: Ok guys, if you WERE big jamiroquai fans, you actually WOULD know this site.
I explained what jamirotalk is, what my role is, but they still wanted a proof that I am the "world biggest fan"...I have to sing a jamiroquai song - but this isn't enough as it seems. Then they ask me what kind of mobile phone I have.... I show them my Sony Ericsson phone and they are happy!! Even with buffaloman display... ha! They are convinced. I am front row - right in the middle, Jay's micro in front of me. YES!
Seriously, they were a bit crazy but real gentlemen and I am glad that I was so smart aleck.
We had a lot of fun, I am waiting for them to register here. They said they would.
8.30 pm(?)
The boys and girls are coming on stage - again!
Has anyone ever had two jamiroquai gigs on one day? This is awesome!!!
The atmosphere is great. The audiece is enjoying the performance a lot.
(The setlist was already posted a few pages before)
I start recording again, but after a while the security comes and forbits me to go on. The guy seems to be very strict and observes me the whole time
Taking photos seems to be ok, so I stick to that for a while. Later on I record a bit with my little digicam - until the memorycard is full. Haven't checked the quality yet. Will do that later and keep you informed.
What a cool version of High Times!!! so different! There is no brass, but I don't care. It's so good to see the boys again - Paul is fantastic as usual. I hear several times people in the crowed who say: wow, the bassist is great!
Jay announces (for the second time) that Rob got a baby and introduces the whole band.
Again great versions of Radio/FJLIS, Travelling very cool as well!
At some point, between two songs, Jay starts singing supersonic - nice one, but then he says: "naah, not tonight."
The rest of the gig is more or less standard, familiar - but they do sound fresh. I enjoy it loads!
11.00 pm
When they finish the gig with Deeper Underground, my energy leaves me. But I still manage to jump. After that I don't feel good - circulation problems or maybe just exhaustion. No sure.
But there are still some final interviews to do. So we do the last shootings and I get something to eat and drink and we chill out a bit.
At midnight the party is over and it takes a while until the bus to the hotel is leaving.
It's 3 am when I am in bed, it takes some time until I can come down and find some sleep, but at 4.30 am the telephone of my hotel room is ringing, in order to wake me up.
8.30 am
Sitting in my plane, driving to the runway .. I can see the gig-plane again! It's still standing there.
Unbelieveble which unique experience we have been made there yesterday - high in the sky with jamiroquai.
This event is one big chapter in my own jamiroquai history. I am so thankful I could be part of it.
I was thinking a lot of you guys - I hope I could represent the jamily worthy.
Let's wait for official reports (like mine from RTL...hehe) and hopefully good quality recordings.

I cannot open my eyes... I am so damn tired. Sorry, guys. Will come back tomorrow with some little details maybe. I cannot concentrate.
Actually it's a bad sign that there was already something at RTL today... this could mean that the boss of my crew decided not to wait for the story around me - the winner of clipfish. I hope they will still show something from our shootings. Would be pity if it was all for nothing...
Oh, and yes, I did it in german. Only the part with Jay way english of course
ugh... I am typing with closed eyes... ... I go to bed now. Thanks for your really nice comments. I am glad you like my reviews.
Much love!!!
