Matt Johnson Messages or Fakes?!?
Hello, :bm_r:
We fans are all familiar with the old "red type" problems that were caused by "Faker" postters pretending to be JK on the "J-Talk" section of the Official Site. Then, bandmembers like Derrick were smart enough to start posting on the trusted Funkin Site Guestbook with updates from the studio. But then those "fakers" started posting on there too further confusing us fans who frequent it again. There have been 2 new messages from a "supposed Matt Johnson" on the Guestbook lately, and it is hard to tell if they are "real" or simply more "fakers flights of fancy". ;-)Here's a Cut N Paste of both messages so you can judge for yourself :
1ST MESSAGE: Hello all! I'd just like to say thanks to all the fans who support the band whatever and show so much love, we all want to make something that makes you happy and believe me we are working hard on it.I can understand that people miss band members that have left and wish for the feeling that first made them love the band,ie albums 1 and 2. I guess all I can say is that life is about progression and anyway you look at it, yesterday is dead. If we made an imitation of those records we would be cheating not only ourselves but you. I have great faith in what we are doing and believe you will love it too. It's coming from an honest place, and is not just about the money! I have to say to Stu, I got this job not through any friendship but was recommended to audition by a musician outside this group. I was among many to try, but I have to say I got the job beacause I can play my instrument very well. It's not really cool to talk about people who you know nothing about in such a derrogatory fashion. Love to you all Peace Matt x

2ND MESSAGE: Thanks everybody again for supporting the band! This lil' message is just to tell you we are very proud of the new album, we're sure you are going to love it like we do. As I said before, life is about progression, and that's what we have in mind by working the album through a rock-pop base. You will love it for sure. Love to you all Peace Matt x

There you go...in my personal view, I'm not going to BELIEVE these messages are real UNTIL there's some kind of confirmation from the Funkin Site! Mainly cause I think we fans have "dicked around by these fakers" so much that it is nearly impossible to distinguish the real messages from the fake ones. ALSO, there was a new message from Rob Harris on the Guestbook, still questionable if real or not, here it is:
ROB HARRIS MESSAGE (MAYBE): just thought i'd pop to say hello.Matt and i are just sitting in my room facing central park about to leave for the first day in the studio over here in New York.can't wait for you to hear the new stuff.we're all very excited, looking forward to playing this collection of songs live.ok well we're off work now.bye

Well, thanks for listening and I'm interested in my fellow JamiroTalk users thoughts are on this, look forward to them! Take care and Peace!
Sincerely,

They seem pretty positive and sincere, but Im still skeptical. Matt (or whoever the author was) didn't try dropping any song or album names or debut dates, so I think that's also a good sign that it could be real. Because if the author were to include names or dates in there it would just be stirring up the speculation pot.
One thing I will say if these posts really were from Matt, especially regarding the 1st post:
"I guess all I can say is that life is about progression and anyway you look at it, yesterday is dead. If we made an imitation of those records we would be cheating not only ourselves but you."
What my interpretation of this quote is: Quit hatin on Synkronized and AFO you 1st couple album purists! Sorry I had to get that off my chest.
The 2nd post he says the album has a rock/pop base. No one panic. Jamiroquai will always keep the funk alive and this album will be no different. It just could be more in the mild of a "Black Capricorn Day" or "The Kids" type style. Im done ramblin. Peace out y'all.[/quote] _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... New message from Rob Harris!
Hello again, :bm_r:
There was a new message from Rob Harris today on the Funkin Site Guestbook, here's a Cut N Paste of it !:
Hello again. You're right there is no real way of proving that some of the guys from the band do post here. When we do post here no one seems to believe us anyway so we kind of stay away from it.I spose we could just get Dave to confirm it.I saw Matts post on here and have since spoken to him about it.I have to say that i agree with him fully.I know some of you love the sound of the band on the earlier albums.I do too, but we have to move forward, looking for new fresh sounds. We don't sit in the studio and try to go over ground thats already been covered.I bet that even if the original line up played together again they wouldn't sound the same because as a musician you grow all the time.We just want our music to be as honest as possible. If it feels good and sounds good that has to be the way to go.Oh well, sorry to waffle on.Better get back to work. Bye

There you go...sorry I didn't met the expected long block of jabber I'm just been tired lately...Peace!

I think the messages could be real, although I have no confirmation about that. Just a feeling.
I am trying to find out more.... I will let you know!
True is, that the boys are in New York at least...

After many rereads of them, no confirmation needed
Hello again,
You might be right Mouse ( as always ), after many rereads of their messages from the Guestbook, a confirmation really isn't needed ! I mean Rob may have been a little more "articulate" in his messages then Matt, but they both have and share the same core topic. "The old sound will never come back & resurrecting it for the new album would UNFAIR to Jamiroquai AND the fanbase." (Rolls eyes in complete disapproval) Well, I guess like all fans, we are free to form our own judegment from this..but they are right, depending on how long you been a fan, if your a newbie Jam fan, IT'S REALLY EXCITING, OR if your a "old 1992 hound dog Fan" like me, your head will be shaking and saying, "Oh come on now JK, we want the old sound, not more techno-club-kids-electronic Jam!" But that's the beauty of the fanbase and freedom in general, having that "freedom" to hate or like something ! I quote Dennis Miller in summing up this post, "This is my opinion, but I could wrong." Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
