JT has teamed up with former NPG band members (gituarist Mike Scott and drummer John Blackwell) for his tour. Mike and John were both essential parts in Prince's success in the past 5 years, so I'm eager to hear some live stuff from JT now... |

Maybe live stuff'll be nice, but Sexyback has been a bit disappointing to me. I liked a few songs of 'Justified', but, as mr. az said, it seems like he's not singing. It's too much distorted, electrical. It seems a good song to be at top of success in night club mixes, but it's not a good song in a global sense. Hard to hear. (I had the same feelings when I first listened FJLIS -apologyes to compare Jamiroquai with JT-) |

exactly! It is a hot club song. A friend of mine hated it and recently heard in a club and totally understood why I liked it. |

...after seeing JT last night in concert, I must come in and say that my level of respect for him has went way up. I mean, of course I wanted to follow the herd and really dismay him, but last night he was on FIRE! Not literally, but you know what I mean. I didn't plan on going although I own both albums and dig them - but I didn't have the money and I didn't want to be among those screaming girls, but 2 hours before the show I got a phone call with 2 FREE tickets, so Chena and I went. I didn't take pictures because from where we sat, he was a dot. It was in a huge arena.
While true, he does really replicate Michael Jackson in a lot of things, he was PHENOMENAL. Besides the dancing and singing, he truly entertained. Funny when Timb came out, he did this Michael Jackson tribute thingy and people were clueless, which was frustrating, but I understand because they are from the age of MJ being a freak, while I am from the age of him being a good entertainer.
Not only that, but the band was tight - very dope, and so were the singers. And not only that, but his dancers weren't no skinny mini's..they were healthy sized girls. Its cool to see an average size girl up on stage working it out.
He did a good mix of both albums. Timbaland came out with him and did this intermission thing that was nice. The stage was set up really dope and a nice design, and he had this multimedia thing going on that was different and unusual. I'm sure someone else has done the whole opaque sheet video angle thing, but this is the first time I saw it.
And the boy can dance....he was personable, and it was fun. Just that. Fun. The fans came out in all types of gear. Homeade shirts galore. Some were cute and others were raunchy. He opened up with 'futuresex lovesounds'..a song which sounds great live. Closed with some slow song that I have no idea what it was. He also did an acoustic version of 'Gone' (Nsync).
The one funny thing was seeing JT play instruments. I'm damn sure that he can only play his songs, because he looked mad uncomfortable at the piano and with a guitar. He did this whole 'morris day and the time' tidbit that was a little shaky, but seriously..we had a great time.
And he is damn sure fine - not ugly at all _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

I thought his first album was excellent and is still one of many favourite albums. There i said it.

Agree, but as far as I know his first album was produced by N.E.R.D (which are great musicians...) As for his second album, I only think that "(Another Song) All Over Again" is good... the rest is very... weird and yes, I don't find where he's singing...
By the way, Deesh: I would have loved to listen to that acoustic version of Gone. Cool u did have a great time yesterday! |
