Peugeot 205GTi
hello fellow funksters.
within the next 4 days, i will acquire a Peugeot 205 GTi (they look like this ). my previous mode of transport was this (I will dearly miss it).
i was just wondering (especially the europeans) what these cars are known for? any usual faults?
the one i'm getting is white, standard rims and a tatty interior. then again, pretty good for $3000!
comments please.
Pietro. |

Hey!
Well, being a European, I can tell you that, despite the fact that the Peugeot 205 is quite an old model now, plenty are still on the road. In fact, many choose this car to be their first.
Just make sure you obtain a full service history etc. as, with any any car, faults tend to appear with age.

P.S. If you're thinking of doing any work on the exterior, let me know as I LOVE designing cars and their various modifications! _________________ wouldn't you like, wouldn't you like, wouldn't you like...to shoot the moon tonight? |

Check your engine!
My former gf had a second-hand 205 and she had some kind of a metal ball of the size of a golfball in her engine, due to wear.
But in general it's a nice car, I really liked to drive it, though your version has much more power. |

This is the case especially as its a GTI. Probably means its been driven harder. These boy racers, what are they like?
Seriously tho Pietro like I said to you on messenger my brothers first two cars were 205 GTI's. First one the head gaskett blew after about a year & the second one well basically as it was an older car so my bro traded it in for a more solidly built car. He always said it was great fun to drive. Less fun as a passenger after he'd modded it up however!!! |

All I can tell you is congratullations, my dad has arranged with a friend of him to buy him that car in a few year, but the difference it´s in red.
One thing I can tell you about that car is a french model so any thing that breaks or has to be replaced will be a bit more expensive. My advice is to change the oil, the oil filter, and those rings that go arround the piston´s head, so that no oil is burnt and also the hole thing stays well lubricated If white smoke comes out of you exaus, it´s because oil is being mixed with the mixture and burnt with it too. My opinion only, hope it´s usefull to you! _________________

and the rally version?
I can tell that is a very good car, take a look at the age and the km that he got!
Ask if ever had any problem with engine , or any big accident!
I like that 205! More than 206 specialy cause that 205 got more cv ! |

well it has a brand spanking new reconditioned engine in it, so there are no probs there.
i'm picking it up monday, and yes saffy, i'd love some help with the exterior design.
ps: it's white. |

That's very true! They have no taste when it comes to 'pimping their ride'.
Pietro, you can rely on me to create a gorgeous looking car for you!

well they rnt the best cars money can buy (they are french) and they are made by Peugeot wich doesnt help matter. i supose if u want a car to get u from A to B then its ok but if ure trying to show off in it think again and buy a bag to put over your head i think you should have got a scooby instead as they are a proper car much biger and much faster, what more could you want
cheers
jack
P.S. Whatever you do, DONT!!! try and make it look like a chavmobile with the drain pipe sticking out of the back because you will look like a gimp |

well, they are very rare in australia so it isnt for showing off, but i want to put in a good sound system (nothing special).

um, i assume you mean a "subie/suby", which is a subaru. and no, i dont think you can get a good one for $3000.
anyways, i think ill just let saffy do the artwork. my previous mode of transport was a definite show off car, so i think i'll want to be just a tad more conspicuous now. |

in what way tho? a BuffMan on the bonnet? i don't think so.
i'm gonna put some BuffMan decals on there, but i don't want it to be a loud car, if you know what i mean. |

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean! The more subtle the advertising is, the more it will stand out (in a stylish way).
I have SO many ideas!
Claire.x.
P.S. As your car is white, you have loads of options for the colour of the decals...any particular favourite?! _________________ wouldn't you like, wouldn't you like, wouldn't you like...to shoot the moon tonight? |
