Contribute Songs for Fan Jam 6th Album!!
*Contribute original songs for Jam Fan 6th Album celebration*
Hello everyone, :bm_b:
Hope all fans had a nice weekend, mine was great, got plenty of sleep which I neglected on in most of my 20s & found a vinyl copy of the Jam album "EOPE", man, I was happy! Anyhoo, I had a idea the other day, mostly inspired on DIDGIN'S previous AMAZING AFO song parodies. Here's what I came up with: In honor of Jamiroquai's July Fest blitz of Europe, I think we fans should compose our own Jamiroquai album, of course lyrically in the vein of Jamiroquai's first two releases "EOPE" & "ROTSC"! Then after everyone has submitted a song, we would compile the best songs, after voting for them of course in the democratic way, into a fictional 6th Jamiroquai album. I took a little time last night, switched on some cool Jamiroquai on the DVD player, and sat down with a pad and pen and composed my first song contribution titled " The Return of the Big Brass (Didgeridigginnewfunkaroo)", I hope you guys like it, took a few hours to write and correct, I'm posting my song now, it will right above this post! If you would like to submit songs, just reply to this post OR post your song in the "Music Of Jamiroquai", I hope to hear ideas from all Fans including DIDGIN! Thanks for listening and I can't wait to read your songs! Take Care and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

here's mine, it's called "Unplugged Jam":
(Instrumental)
actually I once propesed that the 6th album should be an acoustic/unplugged one, with songs simular to corner of the earth and the acoustic version of if I like it, and that the album and it's instrumental theme should be called "unplugged jam". I wanted it to be a jazzy funky jam session with piano, drums, percussion, acoustic/classic guitar, contrabass (which should be played pizzicato, without the arch, like jazz players do), trumpet, two saxophones (alto & tenor), and a didge. maybe some vocal imrovisasion too. _________________

Very interesting idea. I always loved those accoustic songs, but I don't think I could deal with an entire album of it....not so much because a whole album would drive me nuts, but because it's at least two years between every release, and I want some chill instrumentals, but I need something fresh to dance to as well. Anyway, I like it, and if I like, I do it.
I'll post a song here pretty soon. |

Song
Little Ray (ray being like a ray of sunshine)
Chorus: Little ray, you make me feel so good
Little ray, you funk me like a little ray should
Little ray, you make my day, why don't we play in the rainbows today,
Little ray
Whenever I'm sad you shine on me
Whenever it's dark you make me see
You're so irrisistable, I just can't get enough
I especially love it when u strut your sexy stuff
I don't understand how you do this to me
but all that add to the mystery
Even though you're far away, Little ray
I'll be your moon one day
Together we'll paint the city gold
Share this love together until we grow old
it feels like we're lightyears apart
but I still love you with all my heart
Your love is like a drug, it gets me high
When I'm with you ray, it feels like I can fly
it feels so good and I knew it would
You're my little Ray, I'll have to say
Little ray, you make me feel so good
Little ray, you funk me like a little ray should
Little ray, you make my day, why don't we play in the rainbows today,
Little ray
That's all I have at the moment and I don't think it's very good, but I posted it ayway. It doesn't even have a tempo or music yet...I was thinking more of sound like The Return of the Space Cowboy album.

Alright, I've avoided posting a song for long enough. The words may seem cheese, but it sounds alright with music.
Remember when we used to sigh?
I thought the moon was painted on the sky
and I could learn to fly...
Well we've both grown up since that time
but I'm still soarin high
I still get some distorted visions
and I think we're headin for collision
But baby, can't you see
that my true colors, you know they're running?
I don't know what to do, I don't know where I am,
And I know you think my pain is just funny.
All I can see is frownin
and my last hopes are drownin
but I see you smilin in my dreams, now
My solid ground is tiltin,
The tree of love is wiltin,
but I see you smilin in my dreams.
I just watch the clocks melt into the floor,
I know my sorrow now is here to stay
I'll take a mellow holiday.
But in my trips I still see your face,
and I can't pull myself away from you,
No matter what I do.
I'll take a journey 'round the earth
to get away from this,
but I can't escape my racing mind,
And there's just no cure to find.
You got a hold on me,
Too much control of me,
And I know that you just can't see, that
All I can see is frownin,
and my last hopes are drownin,
but I see you smilin in my dreams.
My solid ground is tiltin,
the tree of love is wiltin,
but I see you smilin in my dreams.
Read it while it's here....I'll probably delete it soon. |

I think I've gotta put another song here, because having that one song makes me sound like I'm depressed or something. Anyway, good vibes, good times, high times, that's what I say
I've seen gods of sanitation
but I still get my good vibrations
in this nightlife, n-nightlife
well my mind's emaciated
and straight white lines appreciated
in this nightlife, n-nightlife
I think I've gotta tell you girl
where I'm aiming for tonight
our kind of love, they call it out of sight.
And when we touch our lips it feels alright,
so come on baby dance with me.
If you can sit and still yourself
you can feel the earth beneath us move
it's kinda like a panama red herring
we're in this funky space, we're in galactic groove.
In this cruel world of safety features
You still get some little nasty creatures
in this nightlife, n-nightlife.
Pass the bowl and then the lighter
Make a monk out of a fighter
with this nightlife, n-nightlife.
this cannabis is killin me
at the same time thrillin me
and I'll never pass a test with all this THC,
But honey, it doesn't matter tonight
It's time to boogie.
If you can sit and still yourself
you can feel the earth beneath us move
it's kinda like a panama red herring
we're in this funky space, we're in galactic groove.
Much more chill. Hope you like it. |

Do you play these songs with your band Freddie?? I really dig them!!! It's a pitty that we cannot hear them with music. I really admire people who are able to write the lyrics to a song. For me as a German it's not so easy to do it in English because the right intonation and the right words are hard to find - and to me German texts always sound stupid (except really good songs from really good songwriters.

I've played the songs for the band, and we could play them, but we never found enough time to practice or find a gig. It's the end of summer now, and I'm moving to New York in less than two weeks, so it didn't happen this summer. However, I plan to start up my band again (JAZZ IN YOUR PANTS) as soon as I can, and we've already got six or seven original songs written, so we can throw them in there with the Jamiroquai covers, whenever that might be. I think the music I've written is unique, but still has a touch of that "Acid Jazz but no so much Acid Jazz" sound that Jamiroquai has mastered.
Cheers! |

Amazing stuff Freddie...
Hello again, :bm_r:
I must agree with Missiroquai, those are some great songs Freddie, you are indeed a very talented lyricist. I throughly enjoyed reading them, very impressive ! To be honest, I didn't think this topic I started would go anymore, just sit there on JamiroTalk and get dust, but thanks to talented fans like you & Missiroquai, you've brought my dream of a fan album to life, and I thank you for it ! Take care and can't wait to see more submissions from other JamiroTalk users..of course if you have any more bits of lyrics you want to share, feel free to post them ! Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 |
