Kind of a slightly shifted perception. What we can see on this picture is Jay who is turning his back to his fans! Not really nice. Not to mention this grotesque pose in which he stands . |

Oh I am NOT a fan of the artwork I think a LOT is wrong with it, a. o. his pose and expression. I was just commenting the fact that the band is not on the cover. In my opinion they 'are' on it as he is facing them. You need to think outside of the box and see the things that are not present within the 4 lines of the photo but still form a part of it. _________________ *Meow* |

Sorry this is not outside of the box thinking, this is just wishful thinking and putting lipstick on the pig. This shot was taken on Vieilles Charrues and the stage channel was far in the audience. As this shot was taken Jay was at the end of this channel far away from the band. He is just turning to get back to the real stage. At this moment he is facing just one person, Mitch and nobody else! It is just a snapshot, a nice one, but a grotesque one for a come back record! So stop being too imaginative . |

yes i think he has been placed & i don't think that was the thinking around where he was looking. I'll have to disagree on this one with you Evy. _________________

It's not about being too imaginative, wishful thinking nor putting lipstick on a pig and I will give you two reasons why so:
Firstly I have no clue what that stage looked like, I was not there, just like 99% of the people who buy the album. Those people will not first go online, look up what concert it was, search for pictures of the stage and only then decide what the picture on the cover of the album in their opinion represents
Secondly if you reread my messages I say clearly that I am stating my opinion. I don't know what they had in mind, you don't know what they had in mind and obviously we have different interpretations of the end result. I don't limit myself to what I see on the picture and when people commented that they regretted not seeing the band on the album cover, I commented that in my opinion they are present. I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with me, like Russ does, as all we are doing is giving personal interpretations on something. But this is my appreciation of what I see so no I will not stop anything, especially being imaginative. I am grateful every day that I still have my imagination. _________________ *Meow* |

I was there in France but I can't remember if I realized the moment of the shot but Mitch was around the stage sometimes. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with imagination but as with everything you can go too far. And imagine people they aren't there seems a bit like childish wishful thinking for me, especially involving the well-known diva Mr. Kay who isn't that much away from don't giving a f*** about his band members. I guess you have no f***** clue what Jay pays his footmen (you won't believe it!). So, I think the new cover has nothing to do with the band. By the way, all of the last concerts I was, Mr. Kay didn't even bother to introduce the band to the audience which sometimes even solo artists do! So stop talking about any band tribute. But if it makes you happy, believe it . |

Mindblower, I don't know who you are and I don't know what your problem is but I do not appreciate the tone you use towards me. I haven't appreciated it in your previous two posts either but being an adult with enough online experience I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt.
I had a quick look at the messages you posted and it is obvious you have some anger problems. I am not willing to help you resolve those.

mindblower –
Are you of the mind that Jay only sees Jamiroquai as a b[r]and? I knew Jam stopped being a real band once Jay started putting himself on the cover. Buffalo Man is the best kind of visual iconography to symbolize a band ever. |

lets just face it - no one knows what it is supposed to interpret unless you ask Jay, the photographer or maybe the band
Imo & using MY imagination i do like the crowd & the nightime 'dusk'y scene which is much better than a daytime shot at Hyde Park maybe because it will probably fit the spacey album title. I would though have liked to have seen Jay in his get-up from Hyde Park put onto the end of that runway with no lights & the title written in turqouisey blue or cyan.
But... it will all become clear what it means(if anything) inside the cd booklet in November _________________

Jamarcus, I really think Jay doesn't think that much about stuff like that. I think Jay is not a thinker, he's more a hard worker. He is just doing the stuff he likes to do at the moments notice. I think Jay is quite egodriven which isn't the badest thing. I think that's the reason why Jamiroquai has become so succesful. Because of Jays determined persistence. He is kind of a diva - that's why we like this crazy guy. But if you are turning this fact it really means that there is no much place for a band / team thinking. Therefore yes, I think that Jay sees himself as the main attraction - not Jamiroquai as a band.
Winterkat, I am just a really really long time fan of Jamiroquai and I can exactly tell you what my problem is: the new album so far incl. music, videos and cover art.
As you claimed to be good at imagining, please imagine a little boy on Christmas Eve. The boy wished for many years a toy car for Christmas. Each year, he is waiting for the presents on Christmas eve but never got his toy car. After 5 years of gift free Christmas his parents make, just before Christmas, constantly (concrete) hints that he finally gets his long-awaited toy car. The boy is crazy about that, can't sleep anymore and is counting every agonizing hour until Christmas. Finally on Christmes Eve there really is a present under the Christmas tree! OMG! But then, he is opening the long-awaited present and all he gets are a few hand-knitted socks from grandma. Uff! After all the hints his parents gave to him, he is just dissapointed and endlessly sad about the situation. Same is true for me. I am waiting almost 10 years for the so called more organic live sound with horns and so on, and now I've just got some useless socks!
Am I angry? Oh yes, because I am so deeply dissapointed so far with the new tracks. Jamiroquai isn't just a nice band for me I heared sometimes. I do support and attend this band since my childhood and their first record. The new album isn't just a new album from a ordinary top 10 band for me, this one really goes deep. All this confusion about the new album is just affecting me deeply.
Maybe my comparison with the little boy is too cliched like some of the new tracks (sorry couldn't resist). I'll give you another example.
Imagine you are going to your favourite vegetarian restaurant that you love and appreciate since early childhood. Imagine that you would die for the very good vegetarin food there. After a long time the host of the restaurant progclaime to create a new menu with more "organic" and better food. You are looking forward to it and can't wait to try out the new tasty vegetarian dishes. On the introduction day of the new menu, you are going to taste the new food with your friends. As you open the new menu you have to determine that the new menu only contains meat dishes! You are confused and you can't even find a decent salad on the menu. Just different animal dishes of port over beef to dogs. You are quite shocked!
But then some funny hobby vegetarians are telling you stuff like "come on, it doesn't look so bad", "you have to interpret the new meat dishes", "just eat it over and over again and the taste of the meat will grow on you" or "if you don't like it move on!" and so on. All these funny 1-week vegetarians kids are telling you some stupid recommendations how to eat the animals or how to put lipstick on the pig (what nice double meaning!). It is your beloved restaurant, with the best food over the place you really would die for, and now… Mrs. Winterkat, are you leaving this place from today to tommorrow? Are you eating anything the host serves you? Wouldn't you have the desire to discuss this tremendois change with other guests and vegetarian? Wouldn't this be sad? Please, Mrs. Winterkat tell me what you would do?

I don´t know why you would say that ?
we don´t have lots of FACTS yet. every new little piece is just exciting and we talk about and IMAGINE what the music video album cover lyrics try to say. I don´t see how that could cause ANY harm to anybody.
