Sure you're not looking about the fake version Rythmolution? AFAIK only 12 real tracks have leaked, i.e. the regular edition.

That beggining part is obviously supposed to be there, it symbolizes they're return to a live sound of music, recording all together in the studio.

I thought this part was originally intended to be put at the end of the album, after Hey Floyd, I think it sounds better there

I was slightly shocked by Rock Dust Light Star at first. Having listened to it more since yesterday (alongside the rest of the album) I have a few comments;

Love the tape wind up at the start.

The production of the vocal seems out of place and somewhat corrected. It also seems unpolished in comparison to the way JK sang at Paleo and Live with Jools Holland. But, I've gotten over this and can pretty much accept this studio rendition. I like the fact that JK avoids reverb but his vocals are a little too dry.

The reverb on the keys in the left of the stereo field (especially at the start of the song) is very rough. It sounds very live in that manner and this is perhaps the intent; but there's nothing much else like it on the rest of the album. The synth at the start is also rather different to the live rendition.

The kicks during the breakdown aren't present as they were on the Jools Holland show. The live rendition certainly sounds more developed.

But with all these issues I have a certain fondness of the studio version.

After that, things just got better and better. I'm still surprised by the overall production. It's generally quieter than most modern albums (thank god) and I like the way the keys often break in the mix and pop out... other producers would have compressed them. This adds some warmth and character to proceedings. It is surprising though and some might perceive it as rough engineering.

After getting over my initial confusion and "WTF" with the production, I became more and more pleasantly surprised with the over feel of the album; it's dark funk. The first three albums were very bright and upbeat, the others being quite funky and dancey. This album has more variation than anything after Synkronized and appears to have dropped much of the jazz chord structures. To be honest, it's not an unnatural progression! No band can be expected to churn out the same stuff. Sure, another Dynamite might have bored me, but instead they've taken a different route with the funk; a darker more rocked up funk. And I for one am quite impressed considering all the angst surrounding Blue Skies and the direction that might have followed if White Knuckle Ride was par for the course.

I love everything on this album. By the way; I'm a new Jamiroquai fan, going on a crash course of everything Jamiroquai over the past 3 months. I feel like I've known them for 20 years...

I listened to the album only once and I'm not listening to it anymore until I get my Deluxe version. I want to have the same sensation as Dyego is saying. The digital version doesn't provide the same magical moment as having it on your hands.

I'm not gonna talk about the album yet but just say one thing from what a I heard so far:
JAY KAY IS GENIOUS!

Absolutely and on a connected point; though I've never read any dedicated discussion of Dynamite IIRC I get the impression in passing that I was way happier with that album than most - totally different though it is from the things you mention and I like about the current album Cool

Well, I love Dynamite. I think I was both blessed and somewhat lacking as a new fan. I didn't have the wait between each album or the fears experienced by a fan who wants their band to remain true (I've had those for other bands I love mind you). However, I didn't discover them when many others did, and I missed out on years of excitement. Same occured with my favourite band, Radiohead 3 years ago. I listened to everything in about 3 months and then waited for In Rainbows. So this is pretty much the EXACT same occurence but with Jamiroquai. Rock Dust Light Star was my first opportunity to wait alongside everyone else, since August I believe. I think each album has something to offer, but I never felt Jamiroquai needed to go back to their roots. I certainly wanted them to slow down a bit and do something with a little more warmth. I'm glad that Rock Dust Light Star is a considered piece of work... possibly a true follow up to the first three albums in as much as it's a darker side of Jamiroquai.

I just love EOPE's and ROTSC's warm and punchy production - no one decent releases music at that volume anymore!
