En la de Marvin Gaye si es tener sexo, y como que la connotación de J en este album para TODO EL ALBUM es medio sexual (MUUY SEXUAL de hecho), puedo creer que en SDISJ si es sexual. Generalmente depende del contexto |

hola!
me parece muy interesante esto, ya que estoy estudiando traductorado 
si quieren puedo ayudar, un poco de practica nunca viene mal!
lei las traducciones q estan posteadas, pero no tengo las letras originales, asiq no tengo con que compararlas. las busque por internet pero eran cualquier cosa...
en fin, cualquier cosa estoy aca para ayudar, opinar, etc jajaja
lo unico q me falta son las letras originales, y de alguna pagina confiable

Sobre esta frase especificamente, hay algo que tener en cuenta. El verbo TO BE en inglés significa dos cosas: SER y ESTAR. Por lo cual, creo que en este caso la canción no se refiere a "quiero ser" sino a "quiero estar", porque después sigue cantando "andando por la calle"
La traducción está buena, aunque hay algunas frases que pierden el significado si se las traduce de forma literal. Pero, de nuevo, están muy buenas

Buenisimas las letras!!!!!
Se nota que pusiste mucho empeño! Me gutaron mucho, a demas tienen toda la onda la forma el dialecto de Argentina
Una cosita nada mas, en give hate a chance cuando dice "now don't you wanna rise up", creo que lo lo dice como pregunta, o sea seria algo asi: "Ahora queres (o quieren) ponerte (ponerse) de pie?".
Un pequeño detalle, que quizas lo pusiste sin el "?" y entonces lo interprete de otra manera; pero igualmente estas letras son una masa, me encataron
Ah, y estoy de acuedo con que en SDISJ lo de "vamos a darle" queda mejor quizas, pero es verdad que los phrasal verbs se pueden interpretar de muchas maneras...

Le pregunte a mi profesora de inglés, que le preguntó a la directora del instituto, que le pregunto a su hermano que vive en Londres hace 10 años, que le preguntó a un vecino inglés  y todos coincidieron en que puede significar "vamos a darle" y "sigamos asi" si se toma el phrasal verb fuera de ningun contexto, pero ubicandolo en la letra (y según el sentido común), la letra no tiene ninguna connotación sexual (aunque el album en general sí) y además cuando dice "why'd you have to drop that bomb on me?", se ve que Jay esta como entre sorprendido y disgustado, esto no se debe a que dejaron de tener sexo, sino a otra cosa de nivel emocional... ademas, el tema usa metaforas muy romanticas "the pebbles arranged in a sense they're strange, THEY SPEAK TO ME LIKE CONSTELLATIONS as we lie here", "YOUR SMILE OF HONEY GOLD"... en ningun momento habla del cuerpo de la chica especificamente, habla de ella como con admiracion, pero no como deseandola, pero si hubiera estado en FJLIS o Dynamite, por ejemplo, si significaria "vamos a darle"
Y ademas fijense que dice "for seven days in June I wasn't lonely", o sea que solia estar solo, la soledad era algo habitual en el, y si se tiene como habito se convierte en algo triste, o sea no quiere que su felicidad dure solo 7 dias y por eso le dice cosas como "you never gave me time to say i love you, I know you don't believe me but it's so true", "don't walk away from me girl" y "baby, let's get it on"

ya que estás en planes de hacer las traducciones, debe advertirte que las letras de BDC son bastante.....como decirlo......EHHHH....solo encuentro una palabra, y es en inglés: NAUGHTY

Um... It goes without saying that I really can't help very much at all here. Not least because I'm tired and can't be bothered to concentrate hard enough on reading all of that Spanish at the moment (sorry for dropping in to your nice little Spanish thread with a post in English, by the way). Two things, though:
First of all, "Dale una oportunidad al odio" - shouldn't this be '(NO) Dale una oportunidad al odio'? To be honest, I can't quite work out why the word 'Don't' is in brackets in the English title to this song. I'm suspicious of any songs with bracketed titles, it always looks like they're trying to be clever.
Secondly, the phrase 'let's get it on' IS sexual. I'm English. I've spoken English all my life. I've NEVER heard it used in a non-sexual way. It doesn't have to mean going ALL THE WAY, perhaps (although with Jay, it probably does), but he definitely wants a bit of fun. 'let's get along' is something entirely different ('mucho gusto', more or less, I suppose).

yeah i agree, come on, drinking wine and killing time? f:ck it, these guys are getting it on (AS IN FANCY A SHAG?), after killing time..etting bored, and lost fo wine, I'm sure to get laid..not sure about you!
I agree Sam, this album has sexual connotations all over it and get it on is used 90% sexually, therefore, this get it on is sexual

Woah... hang on... it's not ME who said the ALBUM has sexual connatations all over it. I THINK it's Funkilo who's saying that (but I can't be bothered to read through the thread again, so I might be wrong). Two songs definitely DO - FJLIS, Black Devil Car. I wouldn't say the rest is dripping with sexual innuendo, it's just that that line definitely does mean something not totally innocent (although it's not being said in a dirty kind of way, it still means it).

I'm sorry, that's what a native English speaker said  I couldn't help but trust him! Perhaps, for his generation (he's not very young ), "let's get it on" means "let's keep on like this" and for the young people it means... you know And Jay's young, so it may mean that... Sorry again. Bye!!!

por que si este es un foro donde las letras de las canciones son en ESPAÑOL, entonces todos hablan en ingles?? que les va a interesar a los que hablan en ingles ver las letras en español??? mas bien nosotros andamos buscando de hablar mejor en ingles cada dia... demosle prioridad a nuestro idioma...

Sorry, FunkEducation. I think the thread may have switched to English because of me. My Spanish isn't yet good enough to join in here in Spanish, though I can follow what you're all saying.
Moro - Givenchy refers to the French fashion house, yes. Something like the same question came up on Jamline a month or so ago - Ezbe (who posts here very ocassionally, I think) wanted to know what 'in the Givenchy, Five seventy-five in the Givenchy' meant as well. I Googled it. Brilliantly, 575 is part of Givenchy's fashion range. Not of dresses, or skirts, or tops, or whatever... but tights. So Jay's not only saying 'those tights look good on you, darlin'.' But in fact praising the girl for her particular CHOICE of legware. It's a bit like a woman writing a song about how her man wears Calvin Klein underwear.
Strange thing to do, but it sounds good, so who cares?

Ohhh man i'm so sorry... sorry if i hurted your feelings... 
but you can try and learn more spanish... when i signed in this forums, i didn't know to speak english well, and now see how i can talk to you so easy... it's just a thing of trying... trying and trying... do it!! we can tell you which mistakes you made and you can correct them...
