I'll add my 2 cents on this subject.
I couldn't agree more on the fact that the track is EXCELLENT. But, to be honest, I wouldn't like to see it in the Greatest Hits album. There's only room for 2 new tracks, and we already know this one. I'd prefer a completely new song, and keep 'Shoot The Moon' for a live performance, cause I think a studio version can't beat the live one. You can't get the same improvisation again, you just can't.
I'm sure if a studio version of this song appears, you ALL gonna say (me included) that it isn't as great as the previous version. We should be thankful that we have a A++++ recording of that track, and that we can play it how many times we want.
Maybe they can release the live version we know, as a B side in one of the two next singles. But I don't vote for a studio version of it, sorry. I hope you guys understand what I mean.
Nothing will match 'Shoot The Moon', live in Montreux.
Forget the lyrics, they should remember the whole musicalization! But if you want to pass them the lyrics, I'm in (  how funny could that be?).
Anyway, I'll be right back, I'm gonna hear STM. And I'm pretty sure that's their song, at the end Jay says something where you realize they were playing something new. Can't remember what.

I couldn't agree more with you,Diego. That's the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about putting Shoot The Moon on the next album. I felt that it'd be VERY hard, if not impossible, to top that live performance. They did a VERY good job on that one, and Jamiroquai is one of those bands where their live stuff often tops most of their album song counterparts.
I have Shoot The Moon on my iPod, and I listen to it darn near everyday. It is possible that they could do even better on the album version, but they'd have to put in some SERIOUS work.
I do want to have an album version of Midnight Funk,however. |

yep..me too - STM and 'slipin n slidin'. it's kind of automatic to scroll to both songs in the early morning on the train to work. i never, ever tire of it. NEVER! something about the song..i think there is a hit of 'ear crack' in it or something. addicting...

Anything is better than me singing it to him !!! Envy Jamiroquanna, she had 'Sir' JK sing it to her in person !!!!
One of my favourite parts of STM is when he speaks the phrase 'Are We There ???'
All of STM gives me the maximum Jamiroquai buzz - lyrics, jazz, variety, mood, and the Montreux performance was unbeatable.
I respect Diego's comments but my greed for this jewel in the crown of Jamiroquai's work still makes me WANT it on the GH album. Could you imagine remixes of this ???

No, you're right FE !!! What I think he was referring to was being high, are we there yet meaning reaching the level of being zonked. And oh yes, the music takes you there and his comment is a confirmation more than the supposed question that it is presented as.

Aw, I'm the only one here WITHOUT the mp3...and yes Midnight Funk needs to be released. Ah, its hard to believe an entire band lost the lyrics to their own song. Its just, hah. I don't know.

Hey touchy comment too !!! I am a sympathizer too, but I have my own philosophies to try to account for the loss of past members. The bottom line is, their reasons and the benefit vs. detriment value for the whole of Jamiroquai will only be ever known to 'Sir' JK and the concerned members, and that's the way it should stay.
When I saw Matt back stage at Dubai, before we were allowed through to meet them, I couldn't help but call out to several of them who were walking about quite non-chalantly. No-one else seemed to know 'WHO' they were because they had changed their clothes too.
Like some crazed groupie (God forbid), I kept saying . . . that's Rob, look that's Sola, there's Matt, D _ E _ R _ R _ I _ C _ K !!! (he's a darling).
I called to Matt, and he gave me the thumbs up, so I said to him 'Thank you for Seven Days in Sunny Johnson' - he thought that was hilarious. A short while when I slipped through (thanks security guys - my buddies), Matt and I had a comfortably lengthy conversation with a good part of it about Jamiroquai's internal politics. I reassured him the absolute majority of us are NOT 'Sir' JK fans alone, we laud the co-writers just as much.
I'm suffering the loss of Mr. Toby Smith ATM, I'm catching up on past Jamiroquai and feel the pain of his absence.
I would never say that past are better than present or vice versa, but it's sad when these people become a part of your life, and then . . . 'next please'.
I don't criticize 'Sir' JK for the changes, ultimately it's his 'baby' and he's doing a pretty good job of wiping it's botty. I wonder what happens when the baby hits it's teen stage as 'Sir' JK is let loose of the Sony grip ???
