I'm confused.
I believe the Greatest Hits will be released by Columbia, and the rest is *blank* as we know.

Yeap, could sadly be. We don't know what this means for Jamiroquai. Could be some strange setting in a "chess play" from sony. Even if Columbia is part or section of Sony it could mean, that they transfered not all "rights" to Columbia, to hold back musical stuff.
Until now I thought, Sony would not be unhappy to end the contract with Jamroquai, as I think they earn more money with new "one day fly" musicians. But this can also mean, that Jay wanted to get out, and this is a sadistic first reaction from sony, to push the band into the corner _________________

To look at the other artists in Columbia and the website's quick response to Jamiroquai news & switching, I think this is a good thing. I believe this section of Sony is a bit more human and liberal This is an assumption of course, and we don't know about the future. But if they have made some agreements with Sony, this Columbia is surely a step to the right direction. There are some of my other favourite bands in Columbia and there is no signs of a record company controlling them too much. Think positive! _________________ kite carrier (geuze)

Hello,
That is true that Sony/BMG has a new executive operating officer, or CEO per se, so this rearrangement of Jamiroquai to another label could just be another chapter of the final stages of the record label merger . But that is true, Jamiroquai going on Columbia must entail a better and less intrusive contract for Jamiroquai, new label could mean better promotions and more respect to it's artists, but as usual this is all purely 'fan speculation'. I would have liked to see them post a more detailed "fan press statement" INSTEAD of how it's currently worded, leaves the fanbase AGAIN sitting on the "white picket fence of confusion" humming "Should I stay Or should I go" by The Clash to themselves . Oh well, let's hope more info comes out soon, thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

i have like 3 seconds....but i noticed something funny a few minutes ago...
the announcement that was on the columbia website and the sony website about this switch are now gone. but all the old news about them like the grammy photos, aol sessions, etc. is still listed.
that link that i originally posted doesn't work anymore either...but whatever
politics of the business i guess or there is just a little glitch in the matrix. have a great time tonight argentian fans.
running, running, running... |

I've been thinking about this post a lot and I've got my own conclusios:
From Sony to Columbia? Who cares, the important here is their great music, and not the label. Why shoud I care if they are on Sony or Columbia, BMG or whatever, the important is that they continue making the music that makes meet us here on Jamirotalk. Thinking of the label ,from my point of view, it's none of my business. _________________ Too young to die! |

in a little part i agree with you Layo, but we have to care about the labels, because of them, the bands change so much their sounds...
that's the case of Jamiroquai, who has not so much freedom to do what they want to... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Yes I know that, and I agree, but this industry is sooo huge.If they can't manage with them, than we can do even less. _________________ Too young to die! |
