Yes, Yvie.. it's always the same: you want so badly what you don't have! As soon as you have it for a while, you want the opposite.
I bet, I will hunger for rain in a few months... hehe...

Well I gotta disagree here Meike!! I'm a summer person through & through. In winter I long for summer & in summer I dread winter...!! Where's Fra? I know she feels the same as me!! |

Haha... yes, Yvie, I know where you are coming from, but I am different, but we have some congruities.
Actually I think I am a spring person. I just love it when it's getting warmer, so you don't need warm pullovers, jackets and warm boots and everything. Just to go out in Jeans and T-Shirt.
I love the colors that reappear when the first flowers start to grow and the naked trees will get lightgreen leaves and buds.
The birds are back and start to sing and the first sunrays are warming your skin... ah... wonderful!!
When it is summer and it's really hot for weeks without a break then I start to complain. I am not living at the sea (unfortunatly!!), we don't have a swimmingpool and outdoor pools are so full of people so that I cannot really enjoy to go there.
So, I am happy when it's raining sometimes in summer.
Winter - well, as a kid I loved playing in the snow but nowadays I could do without winter. It's just awfull to drive by car then, it's freezing, and I don't like it. The snow isn't even staying - it's melting after one or two days and then it's snowing again. It is difficult to build snowmen with this snow here....
I think I need variety of weather. When it is always the same, it's getting boring. And after this cold winter I can so much enjoy the arrival of spring... I love it and it is as I am coming out of hibernation.
Hehe... sorry, I think this posting is kinda boring... ... but I am happy!!
One question: have you in english the expression "Frühlingsgefühle" ?
(-> Spring-feelings or spring-emotions or something like that?)

I'm hereeeeeeee!!!!!!
I hate autumn and winter with all my forces!
This year, for example, 's been so long, cold and rainy for Italy
And this cut so bad into my mood: i suffered a lot for the bad weather conditions we had, dreaming daily of the hot season so far!
I love all means summer and sea: may be because i was born and live at only 10 KMs from the sea, we, on the coast, live summer in a different way from others: there's more "attachment", u feel it into your soul: it's such a kind of spiritual attraction (i'm not kidding, seriously)
So, go to hell winter! _________________

Ha ha!! Thanks Fra!! We both agree on this & I'm like you on how the cold weather really effects my mood. This weekend was the first time since last October that I actually got out of bed really feeling positive & happy. Reason: it was a warmer morning. I could actually have my window open as I got ready to go out!! Now if the temperature will just multiply itself about three times than I'll be bouncing off the walls!! |

Very beautiful... I wish I had the same view from my window. But unfortunately all I see is loads of slush, "naked" trees/bushes and grey rainy skies. In May it'll look more like the photo you posted. |

Is this a northern/southern hemisphere divide? Everyone north of the equator seems to want hot weather; everyone south of it wants the cold!! |
Here's why: Bristol (where I grew up in southern England) is almost exactly the same distance from the equator as Ushuaia on Tierra del Fuego, which is the most southerly year-round inhabited city in the world. In other words, there's a lot more land (and thus people) north of the equator than south, and clearly, given Europe's northerly latitude, the 'northerners' in this forum tend to live much further from the equator than the 'southerners'. With the odd exception like Heather in KSA, obviously.
In other words, our winters are much colder, their summers are much hotter (sometimes uncomfortably so), which means we want warmer weather, and they want cooler weather!
You always want what others have.

It has been beautiful here in Geneva too - real spring weather. I'm originally from Brisbane in Australia where there are only two seasons, summer and not-summer, so I love this whole four seasons thing! Been here for five years now and I will *never* live anywhere that doesn't have four seasons, especially the snowy winters! I love snow!!!!! But everything is so alive now, it is beautiful! _________________
