If you check out the Free Jazz dvd floating around the mix was awful.

Sola's vocals were actually louder than Jays so you couldn't even hear him! That sounded bad! But in a good mix, Sola sounds great as a backing vox. Smile

I'm in Manchester now, and my programme is back in Somerset, but if you still refuse to believe me, I shall find the exact quote and put it up here when I go home for Easter, which'll be on Saturday. Personally I think it's easy enough to trust him on, because there is practically no bass at all on 'Supersonic', it's not really needed when there's a didge there as well. So it's not like Jay's claiming to be a really amazing bass player or anything...

i dind't know that neither, it is very interesting indeed

Here we go - since I'm back at my parents' house now, and re-reading this has reminded me about it. I have the 1999 UK tour programme in front of me, and this is a direct quote from it. Talking about Wallis's contribution to the band with the didge, Jay writes:

"one of the key track[s] on the new album for us is definitely Supersonic, which I play the bass on and features the talents of our didgereedoo [sic] player, Mr Wallis Buchanan."

So there you go!

It isn't live bass on Supersonic. Maybe he programmed it, which hardly counts as playing. Smile

That would certainly explain his claim. As I said before, it can hardly be heard under the didge anyway...
