Yeah, you could send him your list, but when I ask you for it "your computer breaks". _________________

Hey that rhymes! Just like main vein. I'm sorry, I was'nt trying to be mean, I just like trading, is all.
You mentioned before about jay saying the f word in a few songs, which ones? I only know about just another story. And in main vein I did'nt know he was say fu**, I thought it was funk, I only heard him say fu** in some live versions (knebworth, ect..).
Hmm.. what other songs could we talk about that have to do with the subject... _________________

I always thought Main vein was about the press and how ambivalent they treat him. One day they love him and glorify him as a person and his music and the other day they just cut him down. But they always "hunt" him as a celeb just to get a "good" story "you wanna know this and you wanna know things about me, but what you're saying always has a vicious poison twist" |

hey!!!
this is what i have been wanting top talk about for awhile!!
i think his music does reflect his life though, cos jay is a very articulate person!!! (don't ya think??)
i think he hasnt had a very happy life, his songs are actually quite dark sometimes and a bit moody and with alot of anger???? especailly supersonic (jay seems like a very angry person too!!) but also it seems he hasnt had great luck in relationships with us females!!! he is either very angry or upset, or sometimes very happy!! (or sometimes downright horny!!!) hahaha
anyhow main vein, yeah i always thought the intro sounded like blood pumping thru the veins???? yeh no???? maybe its about denise??? i think most of afo was his get over denise thing whereas synkronized was more like i'm in love???
king for a day, i think he made it sound like he was talking about a chick so it wouldnt seem so obvious??? but wanted to direct it to stu anyway??? cos i thought it sounded like he was angry at a chick but reading all his interviews and stuff it is about stu... (he says: i'm in no hurry babe, to see u go to ground...) maybe stu tested jay's patience and authority???? (we know he doesnt like to be bossed) and that didnt he leave cos his gf was preggers??? somebody please clarify that please...
and i guesss thru his music you can tell he is going thru stages...he ain't 23 anymore!!! so he grown up! _________________ heehee haha =P~~~ |

Ok I was wrong, but I was close. Main vein is about paparazzi bugging him, not us. _________________

Wow, I had forgotten all about this topic. Thanks for reviving it, although I haven't got anything to add myself. |

Thought I'd revive this forum again. Anyone got any thoughts on LIGHT YEARS?
I started listening to it again when I picked up the British version of the disc in Edinburgh, and I was startled that I had never picked this up before. It seems to me that the lyrics are about how he was trying to change the world (around EOPE time) and thought he could do it, but one day he realized the goal was kind of radical, and too idealistic.
"You can be light years
Away from serious intention
And I thought I knew it all
Someday
I'd get to turn mankind
This way
If you don't know you can be light years
Away from your true destination."
I don't know. Any thoughts? |

I always thought light years (like many other songs in trotsc) is somehow related to drugs _________________

I would agree to Freddies thoughts about the text. But it's always hard for a non-native-english-speaker to get behind the meaning.

yeah, that could be what it means...
anyway, I don't know if this has been discussed before in the Jamiroquai community, but I always thought the song "travelling without moving" had 2 meanings ;
1. driving fast
2. the high you get off of drugs
I've never seen it mentioned before, so if it's already been solved, sorry. _________________
