I thought I would post this for everyone to read:
World 'losing fight against Aids'
Very sad, but so glad that we have people like Deesha who dedicate their time in continuing to fight against this killer....

UK and worldwide...
Support with your picture...
Reposting for a great organization - http://www.myspace.com/terrencehigginstrust
Here at THT we're designing a new look for our materials to encourage more people to get involved in campaigning to improve the lives of people with HIV and improve the UK's sexual health. We're hoping to build a red ribbon using the faces of our supporters to help humanise the work we do. That image will then be used on A4 posters and on our recruitment postcards.
To make it work we need to collect as many pictures as possible and need your help. If you would like to take part all you need to do is send us a photo of just your head and shoulders, along with a model release form to say you're happy for us to use the image. You can send an email to vol1.pcr@tht.org.uk and we'll send you the release form, fill it in and email it to us along with your photo.
Your image will then be given a red tint and will join what we hope will be hundreds of others to make the final design.
If you have any further questions please let us know.
Best wishes,
Rowan and Federica _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

Wonderful Deja. Thank you much. I know the THT will appreciate your participation.
I am going to email them today and hopefully they'll get back to me on how it is all going and if they need more people or have enough.
It'll be great to see some Jamily faces on there and this is a way that people can help that doesn't cost money. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

FRA - Did you get the email with the proof of the ribbon? I got it a few minutes ago and I think I see us both on there. It is pretty small and when I blow it up it is blurry, so I have to print it out later at work, but did you send in the picture of you sitting against the wall with your hair to the right? If so, I think I see yours! They used both of mine..It really does look awesome. So proud to be a part of this great project! _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

they replied me ( Federica) that the pic were sended that day to print but I received a mail now...I'll check it tomorrow 'cause I just got home after holidays and I'm tired like hell after 13 hours in a car.
I'm sure my contribution will be needed/helpfull in another occasion or in many other ways.
I have to talk to you, will send you a PM tomorrow!

Good reminder, Deesha.
In addition to using protection, there should also be more to promote getting tested (where, how, etc) and insisting your future lover get tested before getting involved.
My friend's sister just found out she has HIV this year, and it was becuase her husband was infected and she never even thought to ask him to get tested...her son has tested positive for it as well. We had a gathering for my friend over the weekend and we all donated what we could for her sister's treatment. It's a sad story, and the only reason I put this on here is for further awareness and education. |

I'm sorry to hear about your friends sister and son. Unfortunately, many women are infected with HIV because they don't know the status of their partner, and that includes husbands. Even if my boyfriend told me he was a virgin, I'd still ask that he get a test - especially if we were going to be intimate in the capacity where fluids were involved.
Many people think because you are in a committed relationship that everything is so okay and that your partner will reveal everything and you can trust them about this. But that isn't true and sometimes the partner doesn't even know.
I agree about more promotion of testing and such. I think that goes hand in hand with the aftercare if someone is diagnosed. There needs to be more publicity and stressing that care is there for anyone diagnosed despite financial, race, gender, sexuality status. I think that scares people from getting tested. They are afraid their life will go downhill and that care isn't available. While that is true in some places and cases depending on the progression of the disease and mental capacity of the person - there is help.
I can only speak for the places I've been though because HIV care universally is definitely not the same.
Thanks again for sharing the story and that was very kind that you guys came together to support her. I will keep her and her son in thought. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

Thank you, Deesha. We're trying to figure out some other ways to raise funds so we can continue to help her. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |
