That is wonderful about it being shown in schools Andy. But, it needs to be reinforced all year around and constantly. You show something once, usually people are all hype about it for like a week or two and then forget about it.
Here's more information from www.ropeadope.com:
INTERGOVERNMENTAL PANEL ON CLIMATE CHANGE
you come to this site for music, culture in life, but ummmm, the way this world is going there may no longer be any life. global warming IS happening. humans ARE causing it. The first volume of the latest international scientific summary on global warming was released thursday in Europe. It is heartbreaking. This is the result of the work of 2,000 scientists, and it incorporates new findings from the past six years of research since the last report. Its most dramatic conclusions are stated with "very high confidence," which is defined as having at least a 9 out of 10 chance of being correct. download the study. it's surprisingly easy to read. Take a look at the chart on page 21 of the report, and the explanation on page 14, and shudder.

as someone said to me once:
"the truth is not scary... what is scary is to know that truth has no solution"
we're f*kced up, and it's too late... but this aren't news of course... more than ten years ago scientist knew about this but nobody listened to them...
...
I've just seen the trailer and it is terrifying indeed..
it's nice to see they'r giving it to teachers, etc... but they should play this film all around the planet at the same time...
when they have to send the tv signal worldwide to see the world cup final it's not a trouble...
come on! it's for the welfare of all of us and all the animals, plants, EVERYTHING.
EDIT:
It doesn't matter how hard they try to change the world.
There will always idiots like these:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V7DCUSN9XI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKQsMVf7WoM
and others who always see the bad thing of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPDWDl6_KbY
and Ultra-Idiots who say thigs like:
"Al Gore is a retard. if u look at recorded temp.s in the past then u will see that temperatures have gotten drastically higher and then the cooled down and then things got hotter and then they cooled down etc etc."

More avenues for Americans to be involved:
This April 14th, tens of thousands of Americans will gather all across the country at meaningful, iconic places to call for action on climate change. We will hike, bike, climb, walk, swim, kayak, canoe, or simply sit or stand with banners of our call to action.
If there are any on here that the climate change presses them to act, check this site out.
That's a Saturday, so I think I will dance and wear some type of clothing with a message on it. Maybe.... _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

I don't think we have that here in Philadelphia, but I've heard of it in other big American cities. I don't think it's publicized enough or people don't know about it.
They should. That is a great idea. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

I read this discussion...and had a long debate with myself....(and spoke with DD bout it)
Don't you think the "gig in the sky" is a bit hypocitcal?
As people...what do we think about EOPE (think the issue not album!)

your right sandra,
i would have gone if i was a winner but did think of it all being a waste of energy for the sake of it
i havent seen this movie yet but have had it on my hard drive for months now.
Must take a look , however im dubious about climate change as it is a very good money spinner for the goverment. _________________

Oil and war are, too. Which do you prefer?
(actually, I wish goverment leaders would think it is, because then they'd actually support a green economy, which can be as profitable as you make it. But they don't, because they don't (want to) believe in climiate change) _________________ The name's Rob, just Rob |

I think you are taking it a bit too far Jan.
Remember last summer, deesh traveled from usa to uk BY PLANE
sandra, me the italians we all traveled to the UK for a GIG.
We even did it last october for jazz cafe!
And no, i do not feel troubled for this polution.
Reason: we in europe have strict enviromental rules, but countries like USA, China (and maybe more but i do not know all of them) put more shit in the sky than I EVER could with traveling! _________________ May you always feel the wind on your face and the waves on your toes |

I guess since I am from the USA, I shouldn't travel then, huh?
Anyway, yes there are things that I and you and the rest of the world do to hurt the environment. I don't know anyone who hasn't someone contributed negatively to the environment, but that isn't the point of this thread. I mean...Al Gore had to take a plane places to make this movie, so really....
I also think that it's what you do else in your life that makes a difference. Things like being conscious of how often you drive a car, watching the type of chemicals in products that are aresol, etc. There is information all over the internet with pointers of how you personally can reduce your CO2.
You can go on the IC UK myspace and calculate how much CO2 you produce a year. They also have great clips of the movie:

Here's another myspace site from the US:
www.myspace.com/stop_global_warming
Here's an organization that has great info:

Anyone who's worried can pay Climate Care to have plane flights 'carbon offsetted'. Basically you pay a surprisingly small amount, and the organisation goes about planting trees and funding sustainable energy to make your flight carbon neutral. Really, more people should be aware of this. I'd like to see airlines making it an optional part of the ticket, and some of them are now doing so, but an office at major airports for this organisation wouldn't go amiss either.
Information at http://www.wanderlust.co.uk/offset/
And by the way, 'strict' climate laws in the EU don't include this already, so you should still do it whether you FEEL guilty or not...

Sorry Deesh, think you got me wrong there.
Jan was troubled about flying/gig in the sky.
And i just wanted to say, a lot of us flew in for some jami gigs so why would it be "bad" now?
And to say it more clear, next time they play some gig in london be there PLEASE!
Another engviromental thing is taking up space in my brain.
People are trying to bann the normall lightbulb.
They use to much power, and therefore you should use the what we (in netherlands) call a saving lightbulb.
Newspapers telling us that the normall bulb will be illegal in 2010 in Australia.
I support that idea, and with a lot of ppl using them loww engergy bulbs it should be better on the envioment...but what about LCD screens?
Where i live, it is hard to find a normall TV!
If you enter a store it is almost only LCD or Plasma. (not to mention the look you get when you ask for a normall tv)
And these LCD tv's consume WAY more than a normall tv?
So to make the conclusion:
We kick the high consuming light bulb to replace by a less consuming one.
And we turn on our high consuming LCD tv instead of a regular one and feel sooooo good!
Maybe another quote: "it's a crazy world we are living in" _________________ May you always feel the wind on your face and the waves on your toes |
