I don't think that the laser operation can fix astigmatism, isn't it only for myopia and such? Besides, there is always a chance that they screw something up and you end up blind which is a rather scary thought...
Think about those lenses - I've been using them for 2+ years, I use them everyday and never had any problems... The technology has really changed, these things are comfortable (at least for me), easy to put in and take out, and my eyes don't feel tired even after a whole day and night (you can sleep in them-good for parties! Smile. Previously I've been using glasses as I found the idea of putting something in my eye a little disturbing. But I got more and more annoyed (glasses can be sometimes problematic-sports etc.) and so I decided to give lenses a shot - and I haven't worn glasses ever since Smile
Cheers!

I would recommend lasering only if the doc would say it is necessary out of health reasons Exclamation Why scruff the sensible surface of your eyes just to avoid glasses or lenses??? Makes no sense for me. Lasering method might be "harmless" in reference to real eye operations, but it is still a "mechanical" change of the eye surface. Rolling Eyes

Second, the lasering will not not last forever. Eyes are changing whithin the years, just normal. I asked some docs and my lenses center about that. Most people have to repeat the lasering every 5-10 years, but it can not be done too often.
And what most people don't know: if your eyes are highly shortsighted, the lasering method makes your normal sight better, but your "3-D view" worse. That way many people have to wear additonal lenses or glasses e.g. for car driving and some sports afterwards Rolling Eyes

The other day i read a scary article about Lasik.
An "operation" gets the 100% succeeded stamp when a patient can read the second line from the bottom of a reading chart.
That does sound GREAT, there is a big BUT.
The not so good side effects are not mentioned such as dry/burning eyes.

The most scary part was, almost all ppl who have been lasered loose a huge part of their night vision.
There are several different problems.
It is so bad that in Canada they make this rule or it is already there...but.... everybody lasered has to take a night-driving test.
If your eyes do not pass the test..you loose your licence.

So that night vision thing is included in the 100% succes cases
Confused
I don't call that a "succes".
And since Lasik is still new, there is no knowing how long this "succes" wil last.

And if you are one of the ppl who have ALL the bad luck in the world and it all goes wrong. NOTHING will give you back your eye sight.

I think i would think more than twice to have my eyes done
Wink
There is one plus, if all goes bananas...at least you cannot see the trouble !

Yes, but there'are several variants: 1.real operation, 2.lasik, 3.reik-that's also laser operation, but more effective than lasik and twice more expensive, when you do reik you don't have to like with lasik wear lenses for some time, and my friend's done reik and it's been a lot of time since that and everything goes great. And her father owns that leading clinyc in Russia that does such operations and I don't think he'd do operation for his daughter that could harm her....
The only reason why doesn't let me to do this operation now is that I have to wait and be sure that my sight will be stable for several years. Becuase if no, I'll have again -smth.
And concerning bad experience with lasik-I've heard about them too, when you know big busses came from Moscow under the name of unknown clinyc, in some towns in province, where ppl don't know anything about such operations, and done them lasik for 200-300$ whic is already suspicios, and done those oprations in those busses!!!!What were those ppl think when they payed I don't know! And now yes, they're blind. But they should've thought twice before doing that!
And about real operations: most ppl that become blind, they become blind after them, we've had a world famous oftalmologyst, Fyodorov, he's done loads of operations, after which everything was good with ppl, but after most of them people became blind.........

that is mostly the problem, ppl only get the news from 1 side!
And then you can fill busses with ignorant ppl.

Right here right now you already have 2 sides.
I took the negative one, and you took the possitive one.
Thanks you!!!

But remember, the choice is yours and don't make it tooo hasty Wink
