We will definitely, definitely meet one day at a Jami concert I am sure. Don't know when, but I'm sure we will.

The more I read about this concert, the more that I'm not understanding it really. The amount of money and damage to the environment that this concert is going to do kind of goes against what it is trying to accomplish.
I honestly think there are better ways to approach this that won't involve millions of cars driving to these events, planes clogging up the air to get to these events, the lights and stageshow sucking up massive energy and the trash and pollution that will be created because of this event.
I don't mean to sound negative - just being real in questioning how many people are really going to change their lifestyle because of this concert?
I can't say none, but I don't know...
I just wish there was a better way to get this message across like offer a CD with new songs from these artists as a paid download or purchase and have the money go towards something that will not only help the environment, but educate others about it. That to me makes more sense and is more 'eco' friendly than these concerts.

That's why I said 'download', but then you have to be considerate of the people that don't have access to a computer to do such. And can't they use recycled paper and discs and such or no?

Ok could be a valid option
Don't forget the pollution caused by the computers used to host and download! That's a lot of heat and power

The computers are already powered and running, and so are the other machines used...so they don't work any harder or extra to produce a couple thousand CD's.
And I would think the concert would do more damage than thousands of CD's, but I could be wrong.

Bob Geldof, who organized the Live Aid and Live 8 benefit concerts, criticized the Live Earth music events Al Gore is putting together this summer, saying they lack a specific goal, according to a Dutch newspaper report Saturday.
The Live Earth concerts will be held in cities around the world on July 7, with proceeds funding a yet-to-be-named foundation to combat climate change, under Gore's direction.
The shows will take place in London; New York; Tokyo; Shanghai, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; Sydney, Australia; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Organizers have also promised an event in Antarctica.
"I hope they're a success," De Volkskrant newspaper quoted Geldof as saying in an interview.
"But why is (Gore) actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem for years. We are all (expletive) conscious of global warming," he said.
Geldof, former front-man of The Boomtown Rats, organized the mammoth Live Aid concerts in 1985 to benefit victims of famine in Ethiopia and the Live 8 concerts in 2005 for African debt relief. He has dedicated much of his career to advocating on behalf of humanitarian causes.
"I would only organize (Live Earth) if I could go on stage and announce concrete environmental measures from the American presidential candidates, Congress or major corporations," he told the newspaper. "They haven't got those guarantees, so it's just an enormous pop concert or the umpteenth time that, say, Madonna or Coldplay get up on stage."
Geldof also criticized the former vice president's choice of the name Live Earth.
"It sounds like Live 8," he told the paper. "We're getting lots of responses from people who think we are organizing it."
Gore could not immediately be reached Saturday for comment on the newspaper report. He was in Rio de Janeiro, where he implored people to attend that city's Live Earth show.
"An estimated 2 billion people will be watching around the world, but the single largest event anywhere in the world will be here in Rio. I want to invite every person who cares about the environment in Brazil to come to the event here in Rio," Gore said.
Gore said the concerts would mark the beginning of multiyear campaign to fight global warming. He said the concert was a fitting way to kick off such a campaign because "the task of saving the global environment is a task we should all approach with a sense of joy."
Geldof also could not be reached to confirm the remarks, made at a conference in Budapest, Hungary. The Volkskrant is one of the largest national papers in the Netherlands.
The headliners of the London Live Earth show at Wembley stadium are expected to be Madonna, the Beastie Boys, the Black Eyed Peas, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Keane and Foo Fighters. At the U.S. concert, to be held at Giants Stadium outside New York, Bon Jovi, the Dave Matthews Band, Kanye West, Rihanna, John Mayer, the Smashing Pumpkins and Fall Out Boy are slated to perform.
The concerts will be broadcast in the U.S. by General Electric Co.'s NBC network and on more than 120 networks around the world, and streamed live online.
Gore wrote the best-seller "An Inconvenient Truth," and later starred in a documentary film of the same name that popularized the science showing a link between human carbon dioxide emissions and global warming.

i must agree with geldorf, this concert i dont think must change the mind of alot of people, in fact cant mess the world a bit more...
anyways i try to help the world in my way so i cant say this dont care, i care the world since i was in the art school and i discover how mess was in that time...and now looks like ''some people'' realize that the world is like this...i mean, many people know about this many years ago, so now only we can try to help the world the best we can.
i like to walk, so i help to less pollution in my city(is a good exercise by the way)

I think it's a cool way to raise awareness of that subject. Of course climate change is not a problem you can solve with pushing money into it, but I think those concerts are a good way to "kick this world in its lazy ass". That climate report is not enough to make people do something against climate change, but I think if some (especially younger) people see that "their" stars are playing at those concerts and they don't really know something about this topic, they will probably get into it and get concerned about it and fight it. You know, of course you can't just give money to some organisation and then it's done, but you have to force car producers, governments, factories, Jamiroquai frontmen and all those things to do something against the climate change and that's what Al's gonna do and with those concerts, he'll (hopefully) get many people behind and helping him. So I think that's a good idea. And besides, I can imagine that the equipment used at the concerts doesn't consume too much energy. You know, there are new technologies that don't really need much energy anymore. So, who of you is planning to go to the London show? |

Madonna's song is produced by Pharell of the Neptunes by the way. Even though the song is not really my style, it's well produced, and it's a nice change from his previous work |
