.

well...I think is normal, you are human after all!! And I like that...I would be really afraid if u could just ignore negative feelings!! Also me get depressed when somebody criticize my job ..and in my case there are not so many people listenign (or watching Wink ).

Me too I don't understand a thing of technical bass things..but i want you ( if u'll ever join again) to know this: my only meter of judgement in music is the feeling it makes me feel 'cause I never studied..and the sounds that catch me and make me wanna dance are : Bass and Drum!!
so in Jazz cafè ( as last year in Milan and x the olimpic concert) I was following you and Derrick..I cannot hepl it.. this sound are just corrispondent to something deep n my belly.
I'm sorry for Rob and Matt ...is not my fault but it's really hard x me to separate theyre instruments from the rest apart in solos naturally!
Hope they don't get offended 'cause even if my judge count nothing I really like them AS MUSICIANS!

I made an Italian Review after Jazz cafè and maybe one day I'll finish to translate it in english...but while I talk of You I say something like : Now..I don't wanna hear one more person say he is not great x JMQ..no more..let's wait and see..he has definetly proved us everything it was needed to be proved and even more!!

I know it's hard Paul but we are the kind of persons that get used to something and don't wanna new things..but with your music you have changed our minds!! (hey and then we are all very attached to Stu ..so x sure you had to deal with a big love and with ppl that maybe believe that to love your music it's somehow like to betray Stu a bit!! WHICH IS NOT)

hope my english is good enaught!!

Hey Paul!

Wow so long replies everyone has wrote so i understand i have to write short if u ganna read it Wink.

Im from sweden, im fifteen and im a doing a lot of stand up comedy, BUT YOU (!) got me start playing bass!, preatty fantastic huh?, i heard when you played in Rotterdam and i thought the Travelling Without Moving where absolutley perfect so i thought to myself: "hey that just tooo funky i have to start playing myself, it can be that i hard (i thought Wink ), and my brother had a really nice bass (American -60 bass, really hard practising on )that he gave me so now im playing and practising every day and its all your fault PAUL! Razz

The bass is taking a lot time from my stand up comedy Wink, but its really fun and i just want to thank you i had not come in to playing bass if it was not for you and that is real magic how u can inspire me! (i was not in to music (playing some flute when i was really young blink.

Thank you Paul, Thank you for the music (as a swedish group said)

Hope to meet you one day!

/DanielR

P.s any tips u have to a beginer from the funkiest bass player in the world?

Paul Turner is awesome!

As i bass player myself (allegedly!!) the more I hear Paul's playing with the band, the better he sounds and Jay seems to be unleashing him now!!

The intro to Travelling Without Moving at Maida Vale (14/11/06) is really mindblowing to listen to!!

And what a great job on Runaway and Radio too!!

PAUL TURNER , Stop using music man basses PLZ
Hi again everyone

I wanted to finish up saying a big thank you for all the positive vibes. It's nice to read them.

This is your forum though and I have to accept you may want to use it to criticise, so I won't be interfering.
That's why I often don't look!

I felt the current topic warranted a response as it was SO DIRECT but everyone's entitled to their opinion.
As the saying goes you can please some people some time but not all the people all the time.
Within what Jay wants, we all just do our thing and try to please as much as possible.

Troll
I really appreciate your further comments, apologies, positivity and also your honesty.
Like I said the desk tapes are mixed for the gig with the bass EQ'd by the engineer for the gig alone.
Other broadcast gigs or TVs are EQ'd better for listening at home.
I actually prefer Fenders for most situations but Musicmans are the 1st choice for some music and are especially defined on big gigs where the bass is often hard to hear.
As I think you're a player I'll share a tip with you re Musicman basses too. Use heavier gauge strings on the G & D it helps fatten them up. I use 45,64,80,100,130 or even 50,70,85,105!
With Fenders I usually use even gauge 45-105.

Finally, I used a flanger on parts of Emergency, glad you liked it.

Samiroquai
Don't worry man you didn't piss me off at all. Hope your friend got Ds autograph too.

Hope you all have a great Christmas or whatever your festive period is and lots of love for 2007

Im sure I speak on behalf of everyone here, and that is to say a big thanks Paul for your comments and replies, its not often you get the truth about any subject direct from the horses mouth.

Have a great Christmas yourself and top 2007

Hope to see you back here soon, it is "our" forum as you put it, but it is based on our love of the band, the individual band members and the music given to us to enjoy.

Keep the funk alive.

Paul,

Thank you for taking the time to interact with us here in the forum. You should know that we appreciate it a lot. This is a place full of dedicated and supportive fans from all over the world. We all have our different preferences and backgrounds which leads to a healthy balance as far as criticism and praise goes.

Don't hesitate to check in if you find time to do so. This is not a place where you will read "Jamiroquai blows" because everybody here share a common love for the band and your music. The criticism does not derive from ill will, but rather from interest in the future of the band and the fact that we care enough to actually try to make our opinions heard.

I will take the opportunity to wish you and the rest of the band as well as your families a great Christmas and a happy new year. On behalf of Jamirotalk I wish you a creative and productive 2007! Smile

I second this. And glad to hear you weren't annoyed - yes, we got Derrick's scrawl a few minutes later! Only occured to me a couple of hours later, on getting back to the flat, that I should've asked for yours as well - we were both very fixated on getting Derrick to sign those sticks though!

Merry Christmas to you and your family (especially the new addition!).

Thanks for being at Jamirotalk again, Paul. By the way, I agree on the last previous posts, you will hardly find negative critics in here.
