Normally you would buy the physical album and buy the mp3s.
Now you only pay for the physical album and take the mp3-version for
free. ( or should I say "steal"...)
That makes a loss of 10 Euros for Jamiroquai for each illegal download of
the album. |
Here in sweden we have the right to make your own personal (mp3) copies of a bought cd.
Dynamite! made me make a small comeback to the forum
I´ve been reading posts from time to time.
take care everyone

let's get this into perspective:
it is illegal to trade something over the net if you can purchase it. weather you are "poor" or not, you can still get it. therefore, it is not illegal to share the new album until it goes on sale. it is not illegal to share FJLIS until monday (when it is released in australia).
so do what you want until June 16, when the new album is released.
that is the legal slant on this. |

And what if Dynamite never hits the shelves here??? Cds here are way to expensive... I payed 21 dollars for AFO and that's a lot here... people can get a pirate copy for less than 1 dollar... A band from here called Libido made a record and sold it for 5 dollars and beat piracy... even the poorest people bought their album... record companies take too much money for themselves. I call that stealing...
Things are changing, people... laws will change and record companies wont exist anymore... I hope that day comes soon _________________ We're going to a funktion yeah yeah yeah |

Has anyone noticed with this download that some of the tracks sound flatter and slower than the versions we heard on the radio? This is especially noticeable with electric mistress, and to a lesser extent, seven days in sunny june. Compare the clip of EM we all had to the full album track... see what i mean?
I pitch-shifted both tracks up by +2 points in the "goldwave" program and it sounds a million times better! Its way more lively and groovier, even though the difference is really small (clearly noticable though).
Pietro suggested the download might have originated from a vinyl version of the album which might explain it. We'll have to wait til June 21 to see |

without record companies bands wouln't get the publicity they deserve.
production companies pay for music video's posters cd distrobution. cd stamping, cover art etc.
unfortunatly they take too much of the cake. most bands make most of their money through live gigs. _________________

@ jay88 :
Or maybe the first version of EM that we heard on Capital FM had been pitched by Schooly ? |

Jay,
I did hear those subtle differences in both EM and SDISJ, but they are subtle, and didn't bother me much. I won't care either way they come out when I do BUY the album hehe. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

| it's not about waiting 18 days, WE'VE WAITED 4 DAMN YEARS FOR THIS!!!! |
this next 18 would been really hard for me without dynamite, i have exams from 7th to 27th, and i'm studing from 2 weeks now, i needed to hear the album, if not i would be thinking how it will be while studing....and that's not good......
about the differences on airplayed SDISJ and EM, both are from the 5 tracks dynamite sampler, the versdion heard from there is longer than the album one, and it gots some differences, i don't know about the duration of EM as it wasn't played all (it was cut at the end and beggining) but i think it's also a bit different version.those samples use to have prefinished version of tracks. _________________

It depends on the person... In my case I haven't downloaded the album and I won't do that. I will buy the album, I'd really feel guilty if I downloaded it, because when I first bought the Jamiroquai albums, they were all pirate copies. It took me almost three years to save enough money to buy the original versions of them. I finished buying them all in February 2005 and I felt so relieved and happy then. Since that moment I promissed myself I wouldn't have a copy of the cd, but the original one. If I waited 3 years to buy the 5 CDs and 4 years to buy this one, it won't kill me if I wait 16 more days for Dynamite (in my case I'll have to wait until July because the albums always come a few weeks after the oficial release to my town, but I can wait anyway)
And I don't think it's a matter of being wealthy or not, I am not, but I won't download the album. I will download the bootlegs later, but that's a horse of another colour.
I don't share the decision of those who have downloaded the album, but I respect it _________________

I DID noticed that, but I thought 'am I crazy?'. I think songs from radio always sounds different, but I don't really care.
Also, there's an extra lyrics in SDISJ, near the end.
By the way, yesterday I made a promise: I won't hear the album again until comes out. I feel guilty! I wanted to hear it on June 20 or 21 !!

What?!
Are some of you feeling guilty because you downloaded the new album "illegally"? Well, you have to consider that JK is making money like hay, if he wouldn't he'd make much better music because he would do it for the love of music and not the big cash. |

No, is not that. I lost the thrill of listening an album the first time you go to a record store and you buy it. I don't like that. That's why I'm gonna wait until it comes out.
