Canned Heat is really a unique song.
I first heard it in 2009. But I think it's fantastic.
I think it holds a lot of meaning too.
But it is the first song with a new agenda, and not the band.
Like it or not. If you don't identify with it, you don't. |
I heard it when it was brand new, trust me it was a disappointment then. Today it isn't the end of the world but the introduction to the beginning of the end of Jamiroquai as they were pre-CH. Never again, ever since has been finding the gold on each subsequent release. Funny how we're no longer talking about gay -- I sort of wish this issue would've been explored more. |

I think Canned Heat is an inflection point on the music style of Jamiroquai.
I agree it could be unexpected, maybe more "commercial" stuff? I don't know, but I wouldn't doubt of the quality of that tune. It's a classic now and still sound good.
what happened is that Jamiroquai begun to change the music with synkronized, and of course, not all fans approved the change.
I'm happy they made the change, without it we wouldn't have Little L now. That would be very sad |
That change wasn't for the better. I believe J's real reason for hating TROTSC is the fact that musically he hasn't been able to match without the original musicians who are responsible for the sounds of that album. If he could we wouldn't have CH. |

well, that's a theory, and may be true or not, but I don't like to make assumptions |

I didn't know Jay hates ROTSC now. How do you know this? I mean it might be true and if it is, you make a very strong point. Jamiroquai at the VERY core, is Jay, Toby, and Stu. Those 3 people ARE Jamiroquai to me and when one is missing, it's an injured or changed Jamiroquai and when 2 of the 3 is missing, it's RDLS... lol.
Anyway, I think Jamiroquai is music for music lovers, people with an open mind, regardless of sex or sexual orientation. I've turned my straight friends on to Jamiroquai and many even relate a lot with the musical and lyrical content. _________________ www.funkfiction.com |

I really do agree too.
@ Javis -"Little L" is one of their best songs. I love the Disco songs! |

How many male fans here can admit to J making them happy (and I'm not speaking musically)? |

His hatred or extreme dislike of ROTSC is searchable on here and there's a youtube clip where he's going through each of his album eras -- he says abusing drugs and rushing through the recording of the album which was only two weeks long -- he said he wasn't happy with how the media were so critical of him as a white soul singer -- especially in the UK. |

That's really sad considering it's arguably the best album with only TWM being the other candidate. It's such a work of organic and magical genius. _________________ www.funkfiction.com |

One of the best albums from the 90s and a personal favorite of mine of just close to prefect albums period. |

What I understood from what I read about the thing (or view in an interview, I don't remember), Jay's feelings are not against the album, but the recording proccess, those specific years and his personal life situation.
I remember he complained about being in drugs all the time and that he couldn't remember anything from that time.
I don't think it has anything to do with the result as a musical thing. |

ROTSC was the perfect time for JMQ.
But we have to grow up one day. And things change.
Do you ponder on the life and love you had when you were 19?
No, you Move on.
But I bet it holds the most important feelings about JMQ. |

Do you think Jay grew up? I think he chose money.
And now he sits alone. |
