I'm not really understanding why people are being so critical of the band. They are allowed to make whatever music they want - it's their albumn.
the simple fact is that BANDS CHANGE
look at the Beatles - regarded as perhaps the greatest and most influential music group of modern times - compare their very very early songs like 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' to their much later songs, say 'A Day In The Life' -
they are VERY VERY DIFFERENT
this is the type of music that Jamiroquai are making these days - no fan, no matter how dedicated, no matter how long they have been with the band, can decide what kind of music J SHOULD be playing and then criticize them for not doing it.
my long-winded-point is basically don't be selfish. jamiroquai isn't here to play exactly what you want to hear when you want to hear it. they are playing for their own career and artistic satisfaction. if you like it, then good. if you don't, then accept it. _________________ Have to get UP to get DOWN

there's was only one band in the WORLD who were able to do this and get away with it (and make some great music):
KC & The Sunshine Band.
mind you, if JMQ were able to stay in the TWM era AND keep making funtastic music, they'd be billionaires.

I must say.. FJLIS - WHAT A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!
I already got tired of it. Especially the numberously repeated "yeauw" -sample.
I don't mean I hate it but... BLAAH!!

Just burst my feelings about the song And it is really rare for me to be negative. I just listened to the song mouth open and thinked to my self "what is going on on Jay's head to make this kind of track".
No meaning to fillfull the negativity. Opinions,my friends.
Just depressed about the song. (yeah, there will be great tunes in Dynamite, I know ) _________________ kite carrier (geuze)

Let me try to add my two cents.
The song is growing on me. I heard the sample, and I hated it. I kept listening to it, and the more I have listened to it it has gotten to me a little bit. Maybe it's just because eventually I come around to everything from Jamiroquai. I don't know. But I know that I couldn't stand TWENTY ZERO ONE when I heard it. I know so many people like the song, but I thought it was totally out of line for Jamiroquai. I wanted EOPE, or ROTSC. And I'm listening to Twenty Zero One now, and I appreciate it. There is no doubt that FJLIS is poppy, and it seems clear that it has been geared toward US markets. But I recognize that while it sounds poppy and mainstream, there is still something there that is uniquely Jamiroquai. I don't know if I can even explain it, but while Britney Spears sounds exactly like all the other pop stars, this song has got something unique.
i didn't like AFO nearly as much as the other albums when it was released, but now I appreciate it, four years down the line. I think to a certain extent music has to have a little history to gain any credibility. The song is brand new, and it's easy to jump to conclusions. And we don't know, this song could be on the cutting edge? I don't know. It's still not my favourite song, but I have some faith in the album. I admit the harder edge of Jamiroquai isn't what I like the most, but it's not bad. And remember that it's not all harder. DOESN'T ANYONE REMEMBER BLACK DEVIL CAR? I can't wait to hear the full version of that song. As soon as I heard that I was hooked, and I knew that Dynamite was gonna be awesome. This song gave me some doubts, but we know Black Devil Car is on the album, and I think that song is great.
I played the song for a few of my friends, and they all made a face like, "this isn't Jamiroquai." But my friend who doesn't know Jamiroquai immediately loved it. I think we're all pretty obsessed with what Jamiroquai's done in the past, but I think we have to be a little optimistic for the future. I could've never predicted that Little L would've been written by the same band who wrote When You Gonna Learn. It's very different. But I like it all, just the same.
That was a long post. I apologize. Cheers. |

This is not going to change my point of view about the song, but what you've said there is true... I'M REALLY OBSESSED WITH WHAT JAMIROQUAI HAS DONE IN THE PAST, that's just because i've spent all my life listening FUNK (and funk of the old one), and when i hear these new sounds, i can't accept them... that's not the kind of music i'm looking for... on the other hand, i've got Los Amigos Invisibles, and they stay Funky as they were 11 years ago...

My opinion:
Im sorry, Im kinda in a hurry when writing this, so if some one, or a lot of you have shared my same thoughts, Im sorry but I haven't read a lot of other posts in this topic.
Anyway, I like it. It's groovy. It's got a Black Capricorn Day kind of sound to me. And that song is the bomb. So it's groovy. I hope this song does have it's own unique style compared to the others on the album though. I don't want the other to all kind of sound like this, but I like it. It's a good start to things! Peace! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

I think Larry David could answer this question:
"Is FJLIS just good, great, ok, or some other adjective of a new song?"
Hello,
You know, I find some irony on the reactions of FJLIS from some of the fans lately, the irony being they whined and barked to hear it, then they hear it and their expectations are not rewarded and they bark and whine on how bad they think it is . Just a passing thought, not meant to demean anyone's opinion of FJLIS, but I do think initial judgments of the single after the first listen are rather unfair. I have talked to my fellow mods about this, respecting all of your opinions of course, but your thoughts about something change after repeated listens. I have noticed some posts in Jamline and elsewhere of fans who are slowly turning to liking the single after many listens. But some fans minds won't be swayed to liking it, and that there is their right to be. Also, I don't really like all the comparisons of FJLIS to other musical artists, like the Lenny Kratvitz and Heavy Metal Rock Band comparisons. I mean, Jamiroquai is unique, unlike ANYTHING conjured up in the music world, so I think it's so passe' that JK and band try out some new sounds, people start flaring up the "soundalike" comparisons. I know, I'm probably talking out of my arse with most of these comments, but I just wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks for listening and Peace !
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________
