well...
if you want to buy one from the internet look at the keyboard!
it have to be an usa keyboard (nothing special if you buy it anywhere in your country in)
i dont know the prices for a laptop in the usa but if you want to travel with your laptop 15" are enough 19" isnt handy anfd i think 17" too
you have to look how long can you work with it (battery capacity)
i think you want to listen to your music and maybe want to see a dvd on it you need a good hard disk drive (80gb or more) i recomment if you want to use it for movies take 17"
and the ramdom access memory...
i never take less than 1 gb (on my desktop pc 2gb) but 512mb are enogh if you only want to write a document
the cpu: you dont have to take a core 2 duo processor (its nearly dispensable) take a normal processor (the best thing you can do is take an amd but you live in the usa i think an intel processor will be mch cheaper)
maybe i could help you a bit

Deesha you can go straight to the new MacBook, the entry level one fits good your requests. The price isn't that cheap, you can find more affordable windows notebooks for sure but it would be smart to wait until the end of January just to have the brand new Windows Vista inside and save on the licence.
About OSes...I hate OS wars, every OS has pros and cons. I have to deal a lot with Linux and it has a lot of great values but mind that the open source world has some great pitfalls: lack of documentation, waste of coding resources with developers teams working on the same things (e.g. KDE and Gnome), many distros jsut to do exactly the same things, many programs using different libraries which have same tasks. There's a lot of anarchy in the open source world, some folk consider it a core value, some (like me) have to deal with this complexity and after all i can say it's not that great... _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

Sorry if someone already asked and answered this, but I need to buy a laptop and I don't know which is the best to get. I will be doing mainly homework on it, not graphic stuff or any of that.
It needs to be a good price, last me a looooooooooong time and be light enough to travel with.
Anyone have suggestions? |
deesh, go for a macbook! troublefree fun for exactly what you need. and you get bearish support for free |

if you buy a new Mac you can run Windows Xp on it with Boot Camp software from Mac....
so the best of both worlds.......I work as a IT computer tech guy, and I just bought a new laptop, but instead of buying a new Mac to do just that (run windows on it too)
I bought a Toshiba Satellite Duo Core becuase of price..
Mac are a little to expensive. This only cost me $700.
it has a DVD burner, 80 GB HDD, Windows Media Center..
one nice feature of it is that it has a power button that turns on the DVD player without booting up the computer....so you can watch DVD's without having to wait for the Winblows Operating system to boot up...
good luck Deesh on whatever you choose....!!!!
stay away from eMachines, Hp (computers), Compaq.

dear jamily,
I'm in search of a stand alone mp3 tagger with which I can tag groups of mp3's.
I downloaded loads of old Toto gigs (flac) but I want them on the iPod and thus encoded the to mp3 but tagging through winamp is a bitch. I'm not sure if the iTunes program tags without adding them to the playlist but i'd like something separate, just tagging, nothing else and off course freeware !!!
who knows a program like that and where can I get it
thanks for the help

google it!
you can fine some useable freeware
if you want to use other programmes like the converter from ace (i think the firm was called like that) you have to pay for it but its a good program.
of course there are everytime possibilities to get a progam like that for free... _________________ maxud braucht funk food denn dann bleibt maxud maxud

Thansk for the suggestion Maxud but I was hoping to find a tried and tested program.
I (off course) know Google and know how to use it but user expierence was important and I hoped that some of the jamily might be using a similar program. |

Hi Rene! I use foobar2000 to tag mp3s which is a very thin audio player with a lot of capabilities and native support for a lot of formats. You can find it there. Still its tagging capabilities are almost minimal
It seems that a lot of people use Tag&Rename to massively tag, I don't know if an official site of this one exists, you can find it googling on the most popular download sites.. _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

to find a converter is everytime hard!
sometime I USE NERO WAVE EDITOR to convert my mp3s and so on or to RECORD a concert.
and sorry rene in other forums i see dayly people asking questions like that (google for forums^^)
like i said before i think the one from the firm ace is not bad.
but everytime i use programmes for that i can find serial numbers in less than 10 seconds^^ _________________ maxud braucht funk food denn dann bleibt maxud maxud

Thanks Grizz, Bear and Maxud for your advice.
I planned on buying it when I posted, but since I had some health issues, I had to use that money other places, so now I'm going to get it in the next 2 weeks.
A friend of mine was telling me about this also: http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/
And the big question to VISTA or not to VISTA _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

Hey Rene,
What you need is ID3-TagIT.
You can download it here. It's free!
What's really useful is the Query FreeDB function, which will search all tags available for the tunes you selected. So you dont have to fill them all in yourself Basic funtionality is easily learned, but just a tip: you need to click "save" for your changes to actually be written to the files (before you edit 2000 songs and forget to save them, lol). _________________ The name's Rob, just Rob |

This is VERY bad! Whenever I wanna burn something in either Nero Burning ROM, or in Nero Express, the program prompts me to save a .NRG file. If I choose not to do that, it aborts the whole process! I'd like to know how to disable that annoyance, as I'm not in the mood to always delete the unneeded disc image from my HDD, after every CD burn.
Help please? |
