Hi all,

It took me quite a while to read all the posts in this topic and I have to say it's really nice to read all your comments. The subject is something very close to us: Jamiroquai's music. What they did, what they're doing now and what they will do in the future. I also read the interview with Jay being angry and there were lots of things going through my mind.

An independent label! That would be very good: Jamiroquai making music for Jamiroquai and not for Sony! But what will happen? Prince did the same and he released lots of music with some highlights, but also with much music of lower quality. Will it happen to jamiroquai too? We all want them to make as much music they can, but will it be all high quality stuff? Or is it like: 1 cd good, then 2 rubbish and then again 1 cd good, etc?
Another question: will Jamiroquai do many tours in the future? They are a live band, but maybe they won't do that many concerts due to their private lives (and Sony not wanting them to tour, so they can decide by themselves).

I hope they won't change their sound to much, but I will appreciate some longer album versions (like Just Another Story, Revolution 1993 and Do It Like We Used To Do for example). Maybe the old sound will return, which I like very much. It would be nice to hear the brass section again!
I still don't think Stu's coming back, because I think the troubles between Jay and him are too big. I prefer the backing vocals above a DJ and for me it's not necessary to see the didgeridoo back again.

I hope Jay will take the right decision and let's hope Jamiroquai will make much very good music in the future and that they'll tour frequently all over the world to make all the fans happy (because hear and see Jamiroquai live is the best!).

Greetings,

Jeroen.

I asked myself that too. If they end with Sony, they'll be on their own.. or not! Maybe there are other labels that want them, and could possibily make an arrangement that fits with Jay's ideals.

Very good thread..... here goes my opinion

On my opinion Dynamite is a very very good album.... it is such a good album (like all of them) that this greatness has become it´s own enemy. Nowadays the music industry is f*cked up you know... all this ""artists"" that just put their looks and, sometimes, their voice and don´t make music but play music as if it was a game like chess you know... don´t enjoy it.. just make shure you win Confused Confused weather we like it or not those are the rules now a days.
Jamiroquai, the way they feel and live music, does not fit into music industry´s policy you know... And that´s why jay is so pissed off.... People in sony know this guy´s got talent and instead promoting that talent they just squeeze him out.... They have crappy Ashley Simpson and make this great promotion of her sh*t cos they know that´s on what her succes depends.... They have amazing jamiroquai who does great music so they just squeeze him out and save lots of mone not making any promotion.... I don´t know if this point is clear Ill try to make it so with one sentence..... It´s not equal at all the promotion crappy AShley Simpson gets compared to what great musician (band to me) Jamiroquai gets.
There´s something even worst..... You guys think we´ve heard the best of Jamiroquai¿? What we get is what Sony´s bastards think will do best in the music industry, not the best songs. And actually not eaven the original songs that will do best in the industry but shortened versions of them... we all know that!! Just imagine all we haven´t heard Crying or Very sad

We´ll only get the best jamiroquai when all this sony deal ends..... Jay can go ahead and either have his own record label or be more patient the next time he gets to sign a great record deal and make shure he gets 20 millon dolars ( which is nothing to hi at this moment) BUT has his songs as long as he created them, as much promotion as the band deserves and enjoyable tours.

I agree with you.
I'm shure Sony makes the songs shorter, or says "hey Derrick go away now, we'll put a drum machine on this song", or "we'll edit that part, the didjeridoo solo is too long", etc, etc. Wink

2scratchchin
hmmm.. do you really think jay wouldn´t fight for his songs.. 2fight .he likes to do..... i guess jay is a tough man who would fight and argue for his songs i´m sure... angry sing
I think the main thing is that they create the best music of the world Exclamation Exclamation but it´s nothing sooo sensationell new stuff Exclamation
as they started .. well it was a sensation.... ´cause it was new Exclamation .. a young angry man with political correctness ... a man with heart and soul and a great voice...... and now... he become older ... lyrics are different.. now.. nothing new...great stuff... but nothing new... sooo.. mtv and the whole music market...( i´m sure made of mtv) ...and if the kids won´t see a video.... anytime anywhere... so they won´t buy... cause they simply don´t know!! ´cause sony doesn´´t support them enough... Exclamation
but hey... of course i want to see them at the top of the charts... but i can´t believe the charts anymore in times of internet ... and those file-sharing stuff... Rolling Eyes
so i think dynamite has been burning!!! Exclamation my heart Exclamation definitly Exclamation
love2
the only thing is that i hope jay and the band arn´t soooo dissapointed.... Comfort the Poor Boy ... that ´s the only thing why i´m angry about the chartpositions.... Exclamation but jay said somewhere that he doesn´t follow it ..... Twisted Evil

Hmmm, I think it isn't really Sony's fault that the songs are shorter now. You know that the very first album was also released at Sony, and there were tracks with a length of 8 minutes and longer...But I really hope they find a label that doesn't care about the music industry and chart positions.

Jay once said he had 7 and 8 minute long versions ready to put on AFO, but Sony wanted the album to be only 45 or 50 minutes long, so I think it's all due to Sony.

buffaloman_R Hello again, buffaloman_R

Very Happy Hehe, yeah LLCoolJr, those greedy jerks wanted the "shorter versions" on the domestic album release so they could put the "longer versions" of new Jami songs so they could put them on their Test Pressings of the new album so they could bask in them till some crafty fans could get their hands on them years later...hehe Very Happy! Anyway, I agree with all the raised points, still it is troubling that JK doesn't demonize Sony more. Still, if the ONLY good people in Sony/BMG keep Jamiroquai on the right route and keep respecting JK and the band, then the shaky relationship between both parties will continue to partly blosseum. Keep the thoughts coming guys and thanks for listening, Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000
