Jamiroquai and it's army of Bassists & Enzo=a daughter!!
buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Smile I'm just expanding Diego's original newsitem into a individual new topic post about Jamiroquai's use of guest bassists on the upcoming 6th album & a funny Enzo reference Smile.

Hello Jamirotalkers,

Just wanted to add that www.funkin.com has put news on it's page, and the last one is pretty interesting!:

UK motoring television show Top Gear were looking for a Ferrari Enzo to film for a feature report and on last weeks show (31 Oct), the presenter was explaining how hard it was to source one, saying, "We even asked Jay Kay if we could borrow his, but he said only if I can borrow your daughter, because that's what it equates to!" The outcome of it was that Jay didn't let them borrow his car.

For the new album which is due for release around March/April 2005, a selection of bass players have been used to give a different feel to some of the tracks. The band have used Alex Meadows, Derrick McIntyre (Roy Ayers) and Randy Hope-Taylor (Incognito, Jeff Beck). Julian Crampton, another well respected bass player, has been used on a mix of one of the tracks that Derrick McKenzie has worked on.

Wink There you go, just helping out my bro Diego, hope he likes this Wink. Thanks for listening and see you all again soon!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hmmm, different bass players. Sounds quite interesting. There's only one question I ask myself: what will it be on tour?

Very Happy WOw, now it makes sense. Mr. Meadows was one of a few bassist. Interesting!!! 2scratchchin

So, now they have to search for a bassist who is going to tour with them.

It really sounds exciting - different bassists - different feelings of the tracks. groundflip

Now, someone please recommend me a helpfull strategy to deal with my impatience... I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait... offwall balla balla 2knockout

Hmm, this should be a very unique album indeed.

I'm not sure how the band is supposed to "gel" in this type of situation, but this is not entirely a bad decision. Stu and Nick have both quit at least partly because life on the road was too much to handle; now the band can just shop around for a new bassist anytime it feels like touring.

p.s. remember in the 'Synkronized' album booklet where pictures of Toby, Jay, Derrick and Wallis were arranged in a square grid, with the bassist conspicuously absent? it all makes sense now...

I cannot wait for this album now Razz

The news of the bassists taking part has given me some real hope that this is gonna be some 'ol skool Jamiroquai sh*t' Cool

Especially the fact that 2 of my favourite bassists are feature - Randy Hope-Taylor and Julian Crampton. These guys used to play for Incognito! If you don't know any Incognito, go out and buy any of their 10 albums!!! They are all as good as each other, but standouts for bass players, 'One Hundred & Rising' - 'Positivity' - and 'Tribes, Vibes & Scribes' feature some great playing!

Go....now. Go and preview some of these great players before you get to hear the new Jamiro album!!! Wink
