he didnt say the u.s. will get a tour
"we'll see what happens in the u.s., the states"
that meaning to me is how well the album is promoted or sold |

I'm glad someone else said that, I didn't want to look like a killjoy - but yeah, the whole reason they don't routinely do the US is the band isn't that known there. It needs to be worth their while. So yeah, as you say, it will depend on sales - no change there really, sorry to say for those getting excited. But I hope it is a massive seller and they play for the US fans |

Agreed, a US tour sounds very up in the air at this point.
Damn man they're going to Mexico, can't they make a couple stops to the north?! I mean I really don't see how they could do big stadium stuff in smaller towns, but LA, Chicago, New York... they could definitely put on a few shows (and the fewer US shows there are, the more people will travel for one and the bigger the venue you can fill). |

You're right, but this time I have the feeling that is gonna happen... I've been noticing many many people asking for a tour in.the US on the Facebook, every time they make a new post. Besides, they reached #6 in the Itunes USA and top ten on Amazon, which must have been much better than with RDLS. |

RDLS wasn't even released in the US until two years later!.
I also think they're going this time. Next year most likely. |

It'd be absurd if they didn't at least tour the major coastal markets in the US like NYC, Philly, DC, Miami, SF, LA etc. I guarantee they'd easily sell out 1,200 capacity venues, and significantly fill up 4,000 venues.
They've got a few positives on their side this time - Renewed interest and curiosity in the press, a well reviewed new album (Pitchfork just gave it a 7/10 today, which is very generous), and nostalgia (in this crazy negative Trump era, people want to reminisce about good times passed).
I've seen much less popular/famous European and British bands tour the states successfully. They just have to check their egos and play smaller venues than they're accustomed to (club shows instead of arenas). |

I recall seeing (a few years back) that Jamiroquai could command up to 500k pounds for a show. Knowing that I always wondered how any U.S. venue could afford to bring them in. Even if they sold a 4.000 person venue for $80 (US) a ticket the promoter would still be in the hole over half a million (US) unless the band took a lower amount. So in that scenario, why would any US promoter book them, or much less why would the band come to the states knowing they would have to take much lower paying gigs. I know they don't "need" the money, but it doesn't make much financial sense.
That being said, I would love to see them again. It's been since 2005 for me. |

I thought that was for private shows? |
