Toby Smith - Too young to die. :(

Toby Smith - 1970-2017

It is with great sadness to hear and relay the news that original Jamiroquai keyboard player Toby Smith died on 11th April 2017. He was an original member of the band until 2002 when he left to spend more time with his family. He set up a recording studio at his home, started producing cider with some friends, built up a love (and garage) of classic cars and was a keen horse rider. This is a very sad day for all Jamiroquai fans. Much love to his wife, children and the rest of his family.

What a sad day. I have no words... R.I.P, Toby! bumpin' heart

You know what's weird? Yesterday, for NO reason at all, Toby Smith popped into my head. I was thinking about the older Jamiroquai gang and songs that Toby Smith helped write and I listened to some older stuff...which I hadn't done in quite a while. And it turns out he actually passed away yesterday?! Wow. Sad news indeed Crying or Very sad

It looks like it's true, sadly. Funkin said Toby's daughter told him on Facebook.

I'm in shock for sure! There goes any hope of the original band playing together again. I'm sure Toby was happy in his new life (strange that he took up hunting on horseback), I wonder was it a short illness? Or an accident?

Anywa, very very sad news for any fans of the original band. Stuart Zender has already posted on Instagram about it.

Time to crank up ROTSC this afternoon I reckon.

I'm shocked and confused.

Firstly all my sincere condolences for his family.

Toby was a great artist, an amazing gifted musician. His work, his marvellous chords, his writing, his input in jamiroquai are forever in our hearts.

Thank you so much for all this amazing music which is a part of our lives.

All prayers for you and your family. We miss you deeply. Rest in peace.

Love.

Wow, I hope that there is an official announcement from Jay or the band. Toby deserves a mention on the website main page so that people (not just the jamily) are aware can pay their respects. So sad Sad
