Are we really a Jamily?
I've been a member of this site for about a year and a half, and what amazed me about this site for awhile was the lack of beefs or feuding or shit-talkin between members. Disagreements were kept civil, and disputes rarely got out of hand. But from reading some of the other topics, posts, whatever lately on here, it sucks to see all the stupid beefs that are occuring here.
A great band has brought us together here at this site, and I hate to see us not getting along with one another. I think it makes this site unproductive. I come here to read and share my opinions about the band, get some cool bootlegs, get news about the band, etc. I really don't wanna read about Catman and Ivan having disputes with moderators. THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANY IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!
I guess this is a lil bit of a pointless rant, but I just kinda felt like airing out my opinion about the feuding between the Jamily members here. Let's let the Jamiroquai topics come back to us, mix in some nice off-topic stuff as long as it's not gonna break out into a feud (I've had my fueds, so Im gonna shut up too), and let's move on. I think I know what Jay Kay would say: "Don't give hate a chance... We got all this love to give". Keep that in mind from now on and let's get back to bein friendly fans!!!! PEACE!!!!! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

The spirit of the jamily - that was the reason why I opend the doors to jamirotalk - for me and my (online) friends.
But at the moment, the jamily is splitted, and I ask myself, why.
Some of you make me feel, as if it is my fault. Because of my oh so bad moderating on this site. When there is a conflict and I try to smooth things down and fail because of lack of cooperation from the other side, I am the bad egg at the end. When I am not getting involved, it is also not ok.
I feel misunderstood and not appreciated. All I have been doing is to keep this place neat, clear, respectfull, harmonic and worth reading. In the first years everything was great, but with those many users nowadays we had to fix some rules.
Now some users, who cannot respect the rules, bring me again and again into the situation that I look like an asshole, because they force me to react. I know that I am not an asshole, and that I put a lot of effort in the background to solve disputs peacefully. I remember all the insults I have recieved during this times, calling me a dictator, nazi, cunt, and the blame that I don't let people express their opinion and stuff.
Have you ever heard me attacking someone?
Do you really think that I am happy when I can ban someone?
I know that I always tried to do my best, to be respectful to everyone here, to try to satisfy everyone, to be fair... but yeah, for some of you I am just that shitty admin of the site who just wants to control, restrict and ban people. Well, it is easy to turn the tables and to pervert the facts, but it's not fair and I know that I am not like some of them want me to appear.
Anyways, I was glad to see that there is a new fanforum (www.omi-tribe/jamirox) around, with a new concept - trying to give the people the possibility to go more offtopic and controversial and so on. I wish you good luck and that this concept will work for your users.
I want to point out, that I don't have anyhting about other jamiroquai forums. Of course everyone is free to go to different forums or even open new ones. I have never seen any competition in other forums.
We even encouraged and supported Jay88 and helped him with some forum software questions he recently had.
I am disappointed to see now some people painting our name black in other forums. It seems to be "in" to spread around that jamirotalk moderators are suppressing their users.
Do you think that this is the spirit of the jamily?
Anyways, I wish you good luck with the new forum. I just ask you all to play nice.
I really wanna have back that jamily feeling here. But those people who are obviously pissed of about jamirotalk and not happy with the team, the rules and everything are still here and keep complaining and spreading bad vibes.
Those should be fair and should just leave and decide for an other forum and stop blaming jamirotalk.

Hey
I'd just like to add that the forum we started was not connected in any way to a dissatisfaction with Jamirotalk or its administrators. Our little project was just an experiment, which quickly became an enjoyable activity and so we pursued it.

Please be assured that references to a more "free" forum at JamiroX do not imply that Jamirotalk moderators suppressed their users, but rather that we have a more informal and less structured approach to discussion. I have encouraged users with any personal grudges not to bring them to our forum, and I would be dissapointed if users were indeed painting your name black as you say.

I can't speak for everyone here, but in my opinion there is nothing you could have done better as administrators. In every situation, you acted justly, objectively, and fairly, to do what you thought was right. However, I see now that through the selfishness of some people they will never see things from other people's points of view and for what ever reason they will call you all sorts of insults. I can now say from experience that some people will go out of their way to make things difficult for admin and mods, and are intent on causing trouble and turning people against you. But you must see these people for what they are, do what you believe is right, and don't let it spoil your day.
You have created a brilliant site that has brought so many people together. I'll continue to post here and be an active member because I too had some great moments here.

I'm most thankful for that. That you were willing to help us out demonstrates that you are really great people.
I hope you don't think I'm just telling you what you want to hear, because regardless of any previous attitudes i might have had, i now firmly believe this. Both you and Miran especially deserve far more recognition than you receive.
In life there are always ups and downs... the jamily spirit will return |

Meike you ARE the best & I for one have no qualms about ANY of your decisions on here. I respect you as my "boss" on here & I'm lucky enough to know that you're a great person & to view you as a friend...
Will add another post on this thread later!! |

meike !!!!!!!!
i get really angry ... don´t think like that !!!!!!
i am sure .... the most jamiliys here don´t give you the fault of this weird.... conflict....
there´s no reason ..... i don´t know everything about this different conflicts which had been around here... with different people... but believe me... we are sure that not yyyyoouuuuuuuuu are the problem of this what happened---
sooo please don´t be sooooo sad
sorry for talking in german..... .. but i´m so upset!!!!
thanx for listing
_________________

Meike you do work really hard to keep it nice. People should be able to voice critism true, but the justification behind the critism gets lost when folks hide behind snide name calling and such (critism is no longer stemming from concern). Then its hard also, cause the internet medium only carries us so far, people can easily misread/misintepet whats meant and thats added into cultural/language differences too. Point is youre doing a really great job of moderating considering all this. keep heart! |

I'm quoting to 100% certify those words. I had flames with a people by email and written words are stronger. scripta manent verba volant Is very easy to misunderstand and also to be evil when you write instead of alking face to face with another pal and sometimes is not what you exactly want, you just get mad and loose control! _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

Meike,
I apologize. I failed to mention the good job that I think you and the mods are doin. I started this topic just to vent a little bit, and you had a nice response to it so thank you. Peace y'all! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

The only thing I know is that as long as I'm here, I'll try to make this the best place possible to talk about Jamiroquai and us, let's not forget that like someone said, the band made us be here.
I don't think the problem is with the mods, cause someone has to take care the site. Perhaps some nasty people (I'm not introducing names here) wanted to mess around, and that's it. I don't believe there's more big deal than that.

Hey!
Firstly, I'd like to thank the moderators for their continued efforts in maintaining order in this wonderful place. I really do respect you all and the decisions you make. You're doing a great job!
Secondly, I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but when voicing them, the views of other people should be taken into account.
Lastly, we must not forget this...we (people from all over the world) have been united by this forum as we ALL share something in common...Jamiroquai. I value the time I spend here because I know I am amongst friends.
Long Live The Jamily!

I totaly agree with you Diego.
I've been a member for a few months, and I feel very sad beacuse of this conflict... I think the mods do they work, they are not enemies, sometimes the moderation is necesary, otherways the forum will be a dissaster, with topics that have the same info, people sharing official stuff, etc.
As Flor said, we're her for a reason, Jamiroquai, we aren't here to fight.
Don't loose the Jamily spirit...
Goodbye |

As most of you can see, I'm not an officer any more, that was my decision. I don't have anything against the Jamirotalk Team, but I felt I was in the wrong place, with people arguing for stupid reasons, members reacting against others and other uncomfortable situations. I never wanted to represent the forum team with my opinions, and never wanted to create the feeling of internal problems within the mods crew.
I always appreciated the job done by Meike and Miran, and I feel myself part of this space (especially when I can see how big this community is now, and how close to the band we are), that's why I acted the way I felt, without keeping my arms crossed and maybe earning the apathy of the other moderators. That's me, I'm too passionate and impulsive with my points of view.
I joined JamiroX because I liked the idea of a brand new place, with more freedom, that means, not focused 100% on Jamiroquai, with more "offtopic", and more chat on the topics; something I wouldn't like here, because on Jamirotalk there is more order, and this is the way things were working so well during this years.
Maybe some people won't understand my post, but I needed to do my autocritic of all this events that happened during these days. _________________
