Looking for alternate version of 'Too Young To Die'
Well, as the subject says, I would like to know if a studio version or a remix exists of the alternate 'TYTD' as played live back in the old days, for example @ Astoria Beat '94.
The bassline is completely different, as is the intro, and I don't know if the live version is based on a studio mix or if this is a version only heard in concert.

I've heard a lot of versions of this track. In concert, Stu often played octave-based patterns (hear big jumps between notes?) during the verse instead of what you hear on EOPE. I'm pretty certain this wasn't based on any recorded version--the only other studio version that exists is the 'extended mix' (from the TYTD single), which contains neither the intro nor the altered bass line from live '94-96 performances.

Ok, then it must be a special live version... if the album version and the extended version are the only studio versions.
Yeah that's right, he's playing octave-based patterns, and that track is f***ing tight in concert! I'm a bassplayer myself, and Stu is the best :D
BTW, what is the best live version of TYTD out there? At the moment the Astoria Beat '94 is my favorite, but then I haven't heard any '96 versions ...

my personal favorite is the Finsbury "Jam in the Park" version. had the date wrong - it was June 1997. Sola sings backing vocals!

I like playing a LOT of J tunes, but I'll limit it to a top 5:
1. Travelling Without Moving
2. Space Cowboy
3. Love Foolosophy
4. High Times
5. Butterfly
I also admire the bass on Virtual Insanity, but the slap stuff is far beyond my reach

TYTD
My favorite Stu basslines that I love to play are from Manifest Destiny, Mr. Moon, Everyday, Travelling Without Moving and the extended version of Stillness in Time.
Another song I enjoy playing from the Synk era is 'Where do we go from here'.
BTW, I found the rendition of TYTD from Jam in the Park '97, excellent version  Very different from the others I've heard.
