15/08/2004: An important moment for Venezuela
Tomorrow is going to be a very important day for Venezuela. Tomorrow it is the revocatory referendum against the government of the president Chavez. Why an important moment?? Because my family is opposite to Chavez, my parents HATE him!!! and not only my parents, 70% of the people in Venezuela are against him. We have a bad international image by his fault!!!

The people supporting the Referendum in New York!!!!
The cover of the Diary El Nacional with a picture of the opposition march.

Bueno es casi seguro que va a ganar el SI!!! pero no podemos cantar victoria... Lo mas probable es que Chavez valla a hacer un fraude, y haga trampa... pero bueno, para adelante que ese sale!!!

Familiar with that
buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Wink Viva your referendum day FunkEducation Wink! I'm very familiar with the current situation in your homeland (Since I feel like the only member of my American Generation who actually reads the newspaper for MORE THAN just the comics & the Horoscopes..hehe!). Chavez is truly a dickweed and really needs to step down from power and give it back to the proud people of Venezuela. Wink Have a great day Funk and Peace Wink!

Your American Brother,

The United States, the biggest buyer of Venezuelan oil, and the Organization of American States back the idea of a constitutional referendum to resolve the political crisis in Venezuela. Opponents criticize Chavez, who was first elected in 1998 and re-elected in mid-2000 for a six-year term, as trying to bring Cuba-style communism to the world's No. 5 oil exporter and they have been trying to oust him for two years.

AVALANCHA SI!

"We want to vote"

From the dawn, in all the centers of voting of the country were observed very long rows of voters who hoped by the aperture time of the voting tables to express their opinion in the presidential revocatory referendum. But to awake very early to vote did not guarantee leaving express the process. In average 6 or 7 hours each Venezuelan uses to be able to express his opinion.

They attribute the delay to the multiple passages of the process, like "peaje" that one in the morning became hours the capturing machines of tracks, in addition to the usual delay in the installation of the tables. Also some of the operators of the machines did not arrive on time which delayed the opening.

Despite the delay, many of the people who hoped patiently in the tails assured that they would remain all along in them who outside necessary until being able to vote. If I have dawn I do it here, it was the most repeated commentary. Many were equipped. They took his chairs, umbrella, water and food and until they shared it with the neighbor.

The Electoral National Council at night extended the operation of the tables until the 8, as long as there are not voters in the tail. That is to say, after that hour the tables will remain open until the voters in the rows exhaust themselves. Also by decision of the Electoral National Meeting, to start off of the 3 of late, the use of the capturing machines of tracks was not necessary before to vote later but.
