A sort of HOMECOMING
CosmicMouse is back from her funk odyssey...

Thousand hugs for my son, million kisses for my husband, a long long telephone call with CosmicBear and an extensive hot shower later....

:D Here I am. Back in Germany again. Bloody tired but so so so happy. Full of memories and pictures in my mind. I don't know where to start... First of all I wanna say THANK YOU ALL for that great night in London/Ealing. I enjoyed it so much. bounce

The Homecoming gig was fantastic, so intimate, so intensive, so unforgettable, so.....moooooarrrrrh! 2lick You know what I mean!

And it was so great to meet so many people that I have known from the different jami-websites. Thank you so much for the warm welcome. 1 000 000 kisses to Bine who is MY WOMAN!!! - She gave me her spare ticket!!!!! I will always be thankfull for that, honey!!! :love2:

A big hello to Stella, Jema and Darth Buzz which were the first I recognized in front of the Broadway Boulevard. (Richard, thank you so so much for the little Buffaloman - it is a fabulous souvenir and so cute! Kiss I was so happy for you when I saw that you had finally come into the venue!!! Well done!!!) And also a.a.e. , you lucky cow!!! :good:

Thanky you Erica, Sarah, Phil, Collin, Francois, Sharon! It was so nice to meet you. (Erica, did you wash your hand??? Show the tongue ) It also was a pleasure to speak to Mr. Rowe himself! Great man! somersault

Oh, and thank you Rom, for accompanying me on the way home. Without you I would have been lost somewhere in West London in a confusing parking area .... Wink

Cosmic greeting to all I forgot to mention here, there were so many nice people I have seen – a big part of the Jamily!!! alright AFO hat rasta hat big hat

I have slept less than 3 hours last night, so you can imagine how tired I am. Maybe tomorrow I will write some lines more about my trip to the UK and of course the Homecoming gig. Although I have already seen some good reviews on J.Talk and Jamline. I would be thankfull if some of you will copy and paste your comments into the jamirotalk.net forum, because at J.Talk and Jamline they will get lost sooner or later. Thanx!!!

Summing up, it was absolutely worth it to spent two whole days in cars, buses, trains, plains, cabs and tubes just to be part of this big party! It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am thankfull that I got the chance to enjoy it live. I will always remember that night! :2hop:

Okay, now I wish you all sweet dreams. I am away. See you soon!!!

CosmicMouse : snore

Here is a review from Carlinglive.com.

Jamiroquai make triumphant return to Ealing, West London for their Carling Homecoming gig

Last night saw Jamiroquai go back to their roots, delivering a blistering set to a sweaty crowd in a packed out Broadway Boulevard in Ealing, West London.

Jay Kay managed to completely shake off the previous night’s altercation with a photographer and provided one of the best gigs the frenzied fans had ever seen.

From the opening number ‘High Times’ right through to the final song, a ripping, funked-up version of ‘Deeper Underground’, the audience never stopped moving. Jamiroquai stormed through a set of back-to-back classics including a couple of older tunes they hadn’t played live for years.

Jay Kay seemed to love every minute of the gig, being back in his old hood of Ealing. “I used to live in a squat round ‘ere” shouted Jay to a near hysterical reception. “It’s great to have you all…just there” as he reaches out to touch all the fans in down the front. As the stage was only 2 ft high with no barriers down the front, the crowd were literally inches from the band. Jay got even closer when he jumped off the stage and started running round the venue, climbing over all the stairs and railings before going right through the middle of all the fans down the front to finish the song.

At one point the band even launched into a bizarre trio of cover versions playing the cricket and tennis theme tunes, as well as an outstanding version of ‘Hawaii Five-0’.

Carlinglive.com were there last night, dancing all the way to the end and were left begging for more along with the rest of the crowd. Read the full review and see all the action from last night right here.

Jamiroquai's triumphant Carling Homecoming gig

The band took their place on the small stage in the intimate surroundings of the Broadway Boulevard, Jamiroquai’s original stomping ground in West London.

And there they stood for a few minutes waiting for Jay Kay to emerge…

Moments later the crowd erupted as Jay Kay burst onto stage to a massive reception. After the much-publicised bust up with a hostile photographer the night before, Jay Kay seemed like a man on a mission to entertain his biggest and best fans at Jamiroquai’s Carling Homecoming gig.

The band started to blast out ‘High Times’ to an eager crowd, but with the tiny venue’s air conditioning working on overdrive, it was no surprise when Jay Kay finished the first song literally dripping with sweat.

The crowd were kept fully entertained throughout the gig with Jay’s witty chat giving him everyone’s full attention, “do you ever think I fucked up and should’ve been working in Pontins?” asks the cat in the hat to rapturous applause before leading the thirteen piece band into a rip-roaring version of ‘Cosmic Girl’.

“This is a song we haven’t done for a long, long time” says Jay as the band strike up the intro chords to ‘When You Gonna Learn?’ and the whole place goes absolutely mad. After a trio of hits including ‘Little L’ and ‘Return Of The Space Cowboy’, Jay introduces all the members of the band including new keyboard player Matt, who is only two weeks into filling the shoes of the recently departed Toby Smith - the crowd eagerly accept him into his new role and he reacts by looking pretty pleased with the new position he’s found himself in.

Jay’s homage to his earthy roots shine out when Bosa-Nova rocker ‘Corner Of The Earth’ slightly calms the frenzied mass. ‘Virtual Insanity’ then takes the crowd into overdrive as Jay dives off the stage and races round the venue, climbing over the railings and across the bouncer’s shoulders to eventually run back onto the stage to finish the song.

“I’ve done it all…but I’m still here” declares Jay before launching the band into a mind-blowing version of ‘Travelling Without Moving’ and everyone is dancing like it was the last gig on earth.

Jamiroquai bring the hour and a half show to a close with amazing versions of ‘Alright’, ‘Love Foolosophy’ and ‘Deeper Underground’ which literally takes the roof off.

As someone in the crowd said to Carlinglive.com on the way out of the gig, “…that was the most amazing, intimate, orgasmic gig I’ve ever been to...”

Jamiroquai Carling Homecoming full set list:

‘High Times’
‘Cosmic Girl’
‘When You Gonna Learn?’
‘Too Young To Die’
‘Little L’
‘Return Of The Space Cowboy’
‘Corner Of The Earth’
‘Virtual Insanity’
‘Travelling Without Moving’
‘Alright’
‘Love Foolosophy’
‘Deeper Underground’

Jamiroquai’s Carling Homecoming gig will be broadcast on Channel 4 in June – full details will be released shortly. Make sure you register with Carlinglive.com to be the first to know.

Some personal impressions/highlights of the evening:

Arrow As I have already mentioned: It was a pleasure to meet a part of the big Jamily. To party and dance with you all has definately enhanced the enjoyment! jumpinggreens

Arrow I really loved the atmosphere in that small venue. The stage was very small and just one little step higher than the ground. No barriers, no bodyguards, no space between the stage and the fans. I managed to stand in the very first row and was standing face to face with Jay and Nick. I was so close that I could read Jay's setlist which has been fixed on the ground. (After the show I detached it and took it along – nice souvenir.) another smile

Unfortunatly they didn't perform "Bad Girls" which was writen down on the setlist. They did "Travelling without moving" instead, what actually should have been the encore. Confused

There even was the entire songtext of "When you gonna learn" on the ground. Sometimes Jay obviously starred at the text, mocking himself! LOL

Arrow After the gig I catched Rob and a few minutes later Nick and had a short conversation with them concerning jamirotalk.net. Nick remembered the name and told me that he has already seen it. somersault Rob said that Sola told him about it. So I invited both to come and leave a short message for us when they will find some time. Now they know that Sola has their passwords and that we are waiting to hear from them. Let's hope and wait! Very Happy

Arrow I can't wait to see the broadcasting on Channel 4. I hope someone will tape it for me Rolling Eyes, I am sure some of us will be seen on it, because it was filmed extensively. Right behind me was a camera man and filmed a.a.e. dancing along. There were cameras on the left and on the right, behind the stage, in the audience - everywhere! spinsmile

Arrow I am still upset that I have forgotten my soap bubbles in my rucksack. We had to leave our bags and jackets at the wardrobe and I forgot to get the bubbles out before balla balla ... aaargh! Shame on me! CosmicMouse without bubbles... what a calamity!!! horror

Arrow My favorite songs were WYGL TYTD and TWM. What i missed was definately the didge – would have fit perfectly to that kind of occasion – and some encores like Stillness In Time, Canned Heat and Blow Your Mind would have been the cream on the ice!

Okay, that's enough for now, I am sure I will continue some facts soon.

Ezbe, Sarah, Stella ... what about posting your reviews from Jamline and J.Talk here? Rolling Eyes

Love,
Meike

Oh, Ezbe... I took a shower yesterday evening, so all the little drops of sweat that I got when Jay was jumping and rotating in front of me are somewhere in the canalization now. Laughing

Well Mouse, look at it this way; you don't have Jay's dirty sweat on ya!! Hehe, here's my Jamline review:

__________

It's now quarter to 3 on Thursday afternoon. I don't think I have fully
comprehended the absolute magnificance of last night. In fact, just the
whole of yesterday was one of the best times I've had in days. I really
needed this event, it's been a wonderful pick-me-up for my soul.

So, I don't think I can do a proper review, or give any kind of sensible
commentary on the past day and a bit without either jumping up and down in
my chair, or bursting into fits of giggles. I will just throw in some
personal highlights and memories.

- Rob suddenly has a fan club!! Sarah and I discussed rescuing him from
those ladies that chewed his ear off after the gig, but we left well alone.
They were so funny, though, "I reeeeeeally respect your talents..." !! I
told him about the Anti-Rob Harris commitee on .com and he seemed very keen
to know more about it!! Now there's no Toby (waaaaaaaaaaa!), Rob has become
my fav person in the band, and he's funny as hell to talk to.

- The new guy (now we can call him Matt Johnson, right? I never really
understood why we couldn't say his name before, it's only a name?) is
superb. I think we have to see a few more performances to actually get his
vibe, but he did us proud last night. Four words - Too Young To Die! He
shone. He didn't play as much as maybe Toby might have, but he played
extremely well. I remember pointing at him and telling him "You're good!
YOU ARE GOOD!" between songs, and he
laughed and said "Ah, you're only saying that!" He seemed very humble and
quite nice, smiled a lot. He'll have to get used to us crazy fans! There
were times when I looked at him and I had a picture of Toby sat there
instead, grinning. Sharon was upset too. Ahhhhh, such memories.

- The set up was really good. We were so close, no barriers, and no freaks
either. Well, nothing that I've seen before that got on my nerves! Around
2 hours of pure Jamiroquai bliss. Usual girlies trying to get to
Jay/Rob/whoever. Jay was on form, talked about the fight of course
("Well, at least I didn't go down!"), but also talked a load of shite.
There were times when I just looked at him funny. I think that smack in the
head did something! Sweating like a pig as always. He kissed my hand!
Ewwww, saliva and sweat.... ;-p

- I think I talked to every band member last night except Jay (of course!)
and Sola, who I remember winking at me and smiling. After the gig was
great, just to chill and stand about and chat. I met so many people
yesterday, all crazy fans and such! Was gutted when Simon B and Richard
(Darthbuzz) were still outside as we were going in, but luck shone upon them
and some extra passes became available just as Jamiroquai came on stage!
Everything just went so well yesterday, like a dream.

- Things I didn't like - stupid cow telling us they wanted small people to
come and stand at the front!! Fuck off, we queued to be there, it's not my
fault I'm statuesque and a proper fan!
That bint Eva from 3AM (mirror newspaper showbiz column) being there.
Wonder how long it took her to get her tongue out of Jay's arse?
Bouncers who didn't have a clue what was going on!
Being shooed out by the most unthreatening bouncer in the world (hehehehe!)

- Things that had me giggling in the car - The man that Phill, Conor, Sarah
and I saw running down Ealing Broadway, followed by another man not running
quite as fast, and then a third man who was obviously gonna be the one who'd
kick the first guy's arse when they caught him! Eating a full english
breakfast at half 1 in the morning! Francois (he's a funny man!). The band
playing Hawaii 5-0 very badly! Derrick and his cheap Chardonnay! Phill and
Conor this morning!!! I could go on...

That was an out of this world, never-to-be-repeated moment of pure fun and
laughs! I am so happy to have experienced it, and when I took the boys to
the train station today, I felt genuinely sad to see them go. I wanted the
moments to go on forever. My very good friend Sarah McCormick made this
possible for me, so to her I say a huge "THANK YOU!" and a major favour is
owed.

And, to all the haters out there: Jamiroquai are far from dead. Ask 300
people who saw them play last night if they think so.

Ezbe
XXXX Very Happy

Hello the Cosmic pair couple,......yes DarthBuzz has worked out how to use your 'oh so complicated' site(all you have to do is click on reply, wow)(silly me Embarassed ). It was so good to meet you Meike and all the others I met(Stella, Jemma, aae,Erica, Jamiroheavy,Rom,David Rowe and his wife, Sarah, Simon, John), some not for the first time.
WHAT A FANTASTIC CONCERT. It was the best Jamiroquai concert ive been to...and thats 36 now.And one of the best gigs ever in my life......and thats out of 100's.
I really thought that this would be the first London gig I would miss so I had to do everything to get in.I was waiting outside, shouting 'HAS ANYONE GOT ANY SPARE TICKETS'......then someone said 'YES'. But being the gentleman that I am I let aae have it. She is so nice(and quite attractive). Then after everyone had gone in there were 7 spare passes left over for 8 people. I got there 1st so I got in..but there was a couple ,Ruth and her boyfriend, who decided to give the last ticket to another guy.(so generous)
And there was FREE beer........cool somersault
The highlight was when I gave my buffalo man nacklace to Jay,he loved it I think. He said 'I love it when i get gifts' and he can add it to the buffalo man keyring I gave him back in 1993.
I can't wait until its on T.V. even though my patents might see me smoking a joint smoke'n'jump ....i suppose 17 years is quite long enough...time to tell them,I mean I am a grown man(allegedly)
Well.....that was it...my first and by no means last post in the BRILLIANT Jamirotalk site(surely a contender for the first place in the Jamiroquai web sites contest). CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU BOTH, and thank you.
Take care all of you, Richard stoned

Hi DarthBuzz!

Yeah, great to see you here! Very Happy
Ahem...but who do you mean with "cosmic pair"? Embarassed Just to clear it up... I am married with the lovely funkmaster of this website. Some of you still think that Bear and Mouse are a couple although I mentioned it a few times that we are just good friends – far away from being in love!!! :love5:

Darth, I was wearing your lovely necklace at the festivals and some people were interested in having one, too. We invited them to jamirotalk.net and told them to contact you. Wink
