Nick Fyffe
Nick, the funkiest bass-man - Very nice person, I met him twice after the concerts but I was too shy to say much more than "hello" ...
I dig his funky bass so much, that I will soon start playing the bass myself. Does anyone knows what kind of bass he is playing? I only saw that it is a 5-string, isn't it?

Oh yeah...
He is a more than worthy successor to Stuart Zender, in my opinion. His bass playin' is really groovy, and...well, all the positive words you could think of. Almost.
Cool guy. _________________ Die-hard Jamiroquai fan...or something like that. Whatever, cheers! |

Story about Nick....
Got a story about Nick which I thought you others might find interesting.....
In 1998 Nick answered an ad in the Melody Maker to be in a Jamiroquai tribute band and, while awaiting a response, read that Stuart Zender had left the actual band. He made some enquiries and, soon after, found himself auditioning for the real deal. Ironically, the day Jay offered him the job, the tribute band guy called and offered him an audition! The guy was speechless when Nick explained he was now the real Jamiroquai's new bass player!
Imagine that! Glad he turned down the job with the tribute band!

Yes, kingcal, I've heard about it before.
It's a really funny story. Imagine the members of the tribute band when Nick told them that he can't join because he has got a job with the real Jamiroquai.
They were like "Yeah, sure you have." They must have had the shock of their lives when they actually saw him together with the real band...
Oh, look...I've found a nice interview with Nick Fyffe:

Basses
Hi,
I play bass, badly. Been playing for 3 years now. Got 2. One 5 string for low and slow work and one 4 string active for all the slappy stuff. The 4 has light guage strings on to give me a bit more bend, the 5 is a finger muncher with heavy strings on it for a better tone with the passive pickups.
If you are thinking about starting go for an active 4 with medium guage strings say a 40-95 set.

Hi Alembicbassman!
Exactly, I am planning to play the bass soon. Thanks for your advice, I'll come back to you, if I have further questions, okay?
What do you play? Let me guess...Jami-stuff, right?

I have found a nice interview with Nick Fyffe on guitarist.co.uk.
I am not sure if this is an old one, but I haven't seen it before, so I decided to share it with you!

...hm, are you sure, DIDGIN? I just had a look at jamiroquai.com but there only were two different interviews with Nick... but maybe the contents were similar...?! I haven't compared them word by word.
