Meeting the men-Jay & Nick
It was the 2nd of February, I had been waiting at the front of the stage from 2pm to garrentee my position. Planned before i arrived, I went straight to the large spaced area where I knew Jay would dance and Nick would be standing.
7pm arrived, don't know how I managed to stand there, but after nine years, I finally get to watch and listen to Jamiroquai live in Australia. For an hour Jay Kay teased over the speakers, "Are You Ready!". Well while everyone was waiting, I and other fans spotted Jay above the stage waving (waved at me) hiding and then playing peek a boo from behind the stage. During this time an extremely handsome man with a video camera was hanging around in the security area. It was Nick, videoing the crowd, like he does. "Nick! Nick!" I cried, "Hi". No one knew who he was at first, not until he on stage that is. He came into the crowd, filmed more, I just know I'm on there! He waved at me and then disappeared to the stage.
During the show, Jay lept off the stage, landed infront of me and squeezed my hand for so long. He landed wrong and I think hurt himself. Anyway, I had Jay infront of me all night, same as Nick, great view. Nicks a cheeky dude.
So after the show, Nick appeared again at the front of stage. Me being bold, asked for a photo. He gladly said yes but had to get his belongings and promised to come back. He did, had a photo with me. I asked him a few questions and felt sooooo happy. What a night! Great music, live is best! And thats my story. _________________ I "adelefyffe" otherwise known as "delfunkster" will promise always to be a fan of "Jamiroquai" until death do us part. |

hi adelefyffe,
what a fantastic story that is. and it gave me a good idea when to be at the festivals here in germany to make it to the front row. CosmicMouse and I were talking about that the other day. We weren't sure when to be at the concert-area. 2 pm seems to be a good time then. We were actually thinking about 7 am just to be sure....
Cosmic Greetings

Yeah, early is good.
I went to a featival where the line up included Groove Amarda and it started at 2pm. Yet Jay didn't come on till 8pm to 10pm. So I got there straight away. Early is good. _________________ I "adelefyffe" otherwise known as "delfunkster" will promise always to be a fan of "Jamiroquai" until death do us part. |

Adele, that was a cool story indeed. Don't you hate that though, when you're calling out to a band member and chatting to them and nobody else around seems to know who he is until they're on stage? It's not all about Jay, crowd people!
CosmicBear, I do suggest you go as early as you can to festivals, cos the crowds move around so much, plus you'll have to have someone to mark your spot when you need to find the toilet! Ever since 99 I have always made it to front row at Jamiroquai gigs, and now there's nowhere else to stand!

Agree
I agree, its funny , hardly anyone at the start or end of the show knew who the other band members were. Thats why I think the videos need to show the band more like the old days.
But I must admit, I did like it when at the start of the show and after the photo & show people were asking, "Do you know him, whos that?" I couldn't say, "oh yeah, nick and I go way back." But I did say," hey, thats Nick Fyffe, the bassist." I felt like a million bucks! _________________ I "adelefyffe" otherwise known as "delfunkster" will promise always to be a fan of "Jamiroquai" until death do us part. |

i quite agree with you, ezbe, there is no other place then the first row. even if you have to freeze your bum off on a cold winter evening in london
i am actually not really worried about the concerts here in germany. we will probably be a few people, who will go, so there will always be somebody to hold the spot in the front row. and even if somebody takes it from me. i am probably strong enough to just carry them out of my way back to the front row .
Jamiroquai is playing on the centerstage at the festivals, but there are (surprisingly) not the main act. so i guess, they will start to play at around 7 pm. you can be sure i will be there quite early (how does 5 am sounds, mouse? )
btw, ezbe, great hair!!!

@ Adele & Ezbe: The same happend at the gig in Berlin. While Beverly Knight was performing, Nick came and sat down in front of the bars, exactly where I was standing. I was like "woahhh... ...it's NICK!!!" and I looked around me and couldn't believe that nobody else recognized him. No one else took notice of him...unbelievable!!!
@ CosmicBear: 5 am??? Doesn't sound very good... not really.

CosmicBear: Thanks Sweetheart! BTW, you do realise I got my idea of putting my name on my Jamline t-shirt from seeing your t-shirt @ Brixton...!
CosmicMouse: That same kind of thing has happened at all the AFO concerts I've been to. They wander around virtually unnoticed, except by hardcore fans like us! And during BK, they come and sit at the front, and they'll have no trouble. I remember during Glasgow, Nick and Rob came and sat down just to my left, and Rob was texting on his phone and shaving his face with an electric razor! Nick was just reclining and enjoying the show. If Jay was to do that, he'd never be able to get away!

no, i didn't know that, but i am glad that i inspired you
i can see that picture in my head - one day, jay will come on stage and the first ten rows will have all costumed jamiroquai-t-shirt. could you imagine the look on his face? _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

ezbe, i was -ing so much about what u said about rob, texting and shaving! haha did u pick up his shavings from the floor and seal it up in a sandwich bag?
adele, i know how u fall down so badly that u have to lean on somebody else and putting all that weight into somebody else's hand... was that the situation? i would get frickin annoyed if anybody did that to me! but with jay it's obviously a diff story... he could even break my hand if he had to! hahaha
the other members are damn lucky... they get to tour around the world under the biggest name in music and still manage to walk down the street unnoticed! talk about the best of both worlds! |

I imagine that's the best part of being in Jamiroquai without being Jay - outside the fan base and the music scene, nobody gives a damn who you are. You get your adulation, but you also get your life. The band members got the good end of the stick!
