Concert Conflicts?
Hey guys,
Im curious for those of you who are regular concert goers, has there ever been a situation where you were forced to choose which concert you wanted to go to, because 2 bands or artists you like were playing the same night?
Im a guy who trys to go to a lot of concerts, and this has happened on numerous occasions. I can think of 3 situations like this in the past year alone.
1) Last November, I bought tickets to see Incubus in Minneapolis. 2 weeks later one of my favorite Ska bands, Reel Big Fish, announce they are also playing Minneapolis the same night. I would have rather seen Reel Big Fish, but I was already locked into Incubus. Bummer...
2) I bought tickets to see Coldplay in Wisconsin. Then I found out that 311 was playing in Kansas City the same weekend. Due to my work schedule and the fact that I've already seen Coldplay live, I decided to see 311 in Kansas City. I dumped off my Coldplay tickets on a friend. The good news is Coldplay comes to Minneapolis a week from Tuesday so I can take time off from work to see them if I wish.
3) Friday 9/23/05. In the same night in Minneapolis. U2 is playing a sold out show at Target Center Arena (I tried but failed to get tickets to this show). See the U2 thread at this site for my on that. Then I found out that System of a Down is playing the same night and bought tickets to that. But since I had seen them live already, and in a much better club venue than the big arena they will be playing at that night, I have just purchased tickets to the Brazilian Girls. They are also playing that same night at a small theatre in Minneapolis. Since I've seen System of a Down already, I couldn't get U2 tickets, and I love the Brazilian Girls, I gotta go Brazilian Girls.
BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS, WHY DO THEY ALL GOTTA SHOW UP AT THE SAME TIME!? SAME NIGHT!? I DON'T WANNA CHOOSE BETWEEN THE BANDS AND ARTISTS I LOVE DAMNIT!
And then the stupid irony about it is, there won't be a single band or artist that I'll want to see in concert for another 2 months after. So 2 or 3 that I love will come to town the same night, and then there won't be any good ones for months after lol. F'd up. Sorry Im venting, ranting, bla bla bla bla. But can any of you guys relate to this? _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

P.S.
THERE WILL NEVER BE A CONCERT CONFLICT WITH JAMIROQUAI. THEY ARE MORE IMPORTANT TO ME THAN ANYONE!!!!
FYI to anyone goin to see the Chicago gig: Busta Rhymes is in concert the night before in Chicago. I saw him live back in '96 or '97. It was the first concert I ever went to. Puff Daddy and the Family lol. Puffy, Mase, Lil Kim, Lil Cease, 112, etc etc etc. And Busta opened for them.
The third song into things he fell off the stage lol. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

lol definately! That is a different kind of conflict, but defrinately a conflict. One has to wonder with those two: "What's the story... Morning Glory"? If that's not the corniest thing I've ever said, I dunno what is lol.
Liam lost all credibility when he said their band was "The Next Beatles" though... _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

It never happens when you have 4 kids!...lol You become very selective of who you want to see because you don't get a chance to see many untill the kids are all grown up!...hehehe _________________ I used to worry about the future

Not a concert conflicting with another concert but I've been roped into helping a friend out Friday night when the Fun Loving Criminals are playing about a mile from me... |

I guess patience is a virtue...
311, which pretty much announced this out of nowhere, is coming to Minneapolis after all on Friday 11/4. Im upset, because eventhough I went to see them in KC, and it was a very good show, I could have seen Coldplay the next day and waited to see 311 in November.
There was no warning of this a month ago, or anytime over the summer. That's the way it goes sometimes though. Sometimes bands announce a tour literally 6 months ahead of time (mainly the popular ones that know they can sell out any venue), and there's others that will tell you less than a month before the tour starts... geh...
I'll bet at 311 again anyway lol. Peace! _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |
