To produce the sound you have to buzz your lips like you would play a brass instrument. But with the digeridoo your lips will have to be much looser than a trumpet or a trombone. Make sure your mouth is firmly against the mouthpiece and try to vibrate your lips inside the digeridoo. It will take a little practice, and you will have to get used to the amount of air you have to put through it just to make a sound. You may get strange pitches at first, and you might wonder if you're playing it correctly or not. But when you settle into the right note, you'll know it. It will play much more easily. There are usually two partials with a digeridoo, a low pitch and a higher pitch. You should be able to find both of them with a little practice. Once you find the right pitch and get everything working right, you'll learn how to manage your breath a little better (at first you will run out of breath very quickly).

I haven't learned how to circular breathe yet, but you can play the digeridoo without being able to do that. I can play the horn for about twenty seconds without running out of breath.

Hope that helps.

Alex

PS - moving your tongue inside your mouth will make some of the different sound fluctuations you're used to hearing when a real didg player plays. You can trill your tongue to make the sound that you hear at the end of JOURNEY TO ARNHEMLAND, for instance. Experimentation yields the best results.
