Nice E-mail from Kanopus!
Hello,
You guys might remember that advert posts about the new British Acid Jazz Records artist called "Kanopus" . Well, I got a rather nice e-mail back from them after I sent a e-mail requesting their CD at their website, here's what it said:
Hey Brent
Thanks for the comments on KANOPUS, we really appreciate you guys
taking
an interest. We are currently working on our debut album which we aim
to release in the summer of 2005. Can't say any names for the label
yet
but we are hoping that it will be released as part of a UK Tour in the
summer.
I must apologise for the late reply. My internet connection has been
down along with the website this week, shocking!! Everything is back
up
and running now! I am looking into a new website with a regularly
updated news page to let people know exactly what we are up to.
KANOPUS have played many gigs over the past couple of years including
venues such as London's Jazz Café. Do you know of the JAMES TAYLOR
QUARTET? We will be supporting them at a Festival in MAY 05. This
will
be the start of our big drive to promote the album.
It's so rewarding for us to hear from people from abroad who are
interested in our music and we are extremely keen to travel to your
part
of the world to play live!! Who knows, we could be at a venue near you
soon!!
Jamiroquai has been a big influence to all of the members of the band.
Our musical influences are vast as there are nine people in the band.
We all studied jazz degrees in Birmingham, UK and all have different
musical tastes such as Jamiroquai, Earth Wind & Fire, Steely Dan,
Stevie
Wonder, Sting, Jill Scott, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane,
Pat Metheney, the list is endless along with our cd collections.
You may be interested to know that our horn section was coached at the
Conservatoire by one of JK's trumpet players Martin Shaw. He is a
great
bloke and gave us lots of advice.
Can you accept large email files? If you can I will email you some
other tracks not available anywhere. The link below connects to a site
which features our first release on ACID JAZZ Records, check it out.

Please keep in touch and I will make sure you get a copy of the Album
as
soon as it is mixed (around Feb or March) along with some exclusive
previews of some tracks.
Many thanks
Tom
