he´s not so important
I´ve been watching the news today and they were talking about a "song for the poor children" (or some other caritative title, I can´t remember) that has been recorded in a studio of London last weekend. It has been sung by loads of important musicians (a lot of them, they were emulating the same that was made in the 80s by the most influential artist of the moment).
SO I though: hey Jay has to be there somewhere, and I started to search him on the screen of my tv, but he wasn´t there.
damn! I mean, he lives near london, and he has a great voice! they could have callen him for putting some vocals or anything, but there u have it: the consequence of being so lazy and make an album every 4 years is this: the whole world of music is starting to forget jamiroquai.
you have big bands like U2, Eminem, the beastie boys... getting a new album every 2-3 years, and then you have jay kay, who hasn´t done ANYTHING since 2002 (the corner of the earth single was about 3 or 4 weeks on tv). that´s crap |

I really agree with you Snorry!!! Dad and a lot of my friends asked me: Hey Edgar, where's supposed Jamiroquai to release a new album? and i said uhmmmm don't know....
Where's this guy Edgar???
just drinking everyday and playing with laws!!! This is amazing! but if that's his way to live his life.... if it wasn't for all that long time.. you can see him on the MTV awards, grammys, important TV shows, evrywhere... but he prefers to be lost!! i really get very excited when i see him on TV... but... _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

oh yeap..that band aid song....well..i think (this is my theory though..) the reason why jay wasnt one of the guest singer maybe because he's been into sort of controversional lately..from brawl with paparazzi to driving ban and with that wild party he attended to...i dont think its impressed bob geldof....
anyway..i dont know whether i'm correct or not...i think i saw jaykay in rolling stone-like a rolling stone video...it's like a glimpse of jaykay with a brown hat having a drink with his friends...it's was quick like 4 second or something like that...well i maybe wrong...
and talk about being a guest-singer-in-a-band-aid....u guys should check out pulp-bad cover version video....u can find jay in that video _________________ Selamat Pagi Dunia |

The Beastie Boys published Hello Nasty in 1998, and To the 5 Buroughs in 2004. Thats 7 years between studio recordings.
U2 published all that you can't leave behind in 2000 and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb in 2004. Thats 5 years in between studio recordings. Though I believe U2 also released a few "best of U2" type cds in that time frame.
Frankly, Eminem hasn't been around that long. He's only been around since about 1999.
Jamiroquai released new studio recordings pretty consistently (every 2-3 years) from 1993 until 2001. All I'm getting at here is It's not unusual for a group of this calibre to finally break away for a few years and recharge their artistic senses, especially since so many people have left and new people have come on board.
As far as the new recording of Do They Know its Christmas , I know its for a good cause, but why couldn't they have done something new? It would have been more beneficial.
I remember when it was first recorded and it was great. They had a huge concert that was broadcast all over the world called Live Aid. It was an original idea by Bob Geldof (Boomtown Rats) and Midge Ure (Ultravox) and featured some of the biggest names in music at the time.
I didn't really like the idea of doing a new recording of that song though, so I'm glad Jay didn't participate.
Aparently I'm not the only one that feels this way about the new recording judging by this article:
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=3766163
Just because he didn't join in on this recording doesn't mean he hasn't done other things:
Didn't Jay recently perform with Jools Holland to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall?
Didn't he recently pose in a PDSA calendar with his Dogs to benefit the PDSA?

i think the real topic is this: do you think that, if Sir Bob (Geldof) was to do another LiveAid concert, would Jay and the band play? would he do all of his music from EOPE?
by the way, my dad bought the "Do They Know its Christmas" album yesterday and it positively sucks. buy it to help starving children, BUT DO NOT INSERT IT INTO YOUR CD PLAYER.
he also bought the Live Aid concert on DVD, and it is pretty good. buy that to help starving children and insert that into your DVD player. |
