Stevie Wonder on MTV VMAs!!!
Greetings,
As usual, I was so bored and willing to humour the stupidity of MTV US, so I watched last night's LIVE (I.E. Recorded a week prior) of the MTV Video Music Awards 2004 from Miami. So, it was a mixed bag of a show, kind of weird to see the daughters of Bush & Kerry pleading to all the viewers to go out and register to vote when they don't have to go out and ACTUALLY work to make a living like 75% of the middle class have too. Enough with my political views, back to the topic, well during the Alicia Keyes performance of some song, the big surprise was..."STEVIE WONDER!" He, Alicia Keyes & Lenny Kravitz (yes, he wore some annoying "Steven Segal" Indian costume complete with 'Elton John' big black glasses!) performed a rolicking cover of "Higher Ground", must say, that was the BEST performance of the WHOLE show, though the contradictive shortening of the Polyphonic Spree's performance of "Hold Me Now" was unfair, & Kanye West performance was great too. Moonmen were given to undeserving music artists (I.E. No Doubt, Yellowcard & Outkast)...and ONLY ONE deserving artist (I.E. Jet). For more info, pictures, info and unrelative crap, don't bother clicking over to:

As you can see for yourself if you waste your time viewing all this, that, the American music scene, is as predicted, in the doldrums. Peace!
Your Friend,

AHHH, I wish I had cable so I could have seen that performance! I love Stevie-so damn funky! I'm sure the rest of it was crap. You know when I was around 5 I remember watching MTV before I would go to kindergarden ( I had P.M. kindergarden), and at the time MTV was so awesome because all they played were videos!!!! Not all these different stupid shows they have on now! And if that wasn't bad enough, the 1-2 hours of videos that they do show are all voted in by the teenie-boppers! So they have us believe that you can see all videos all the time on MTV2, but MTV2 is mostly hip hop!! At least its like this in the U.S. We never get to see the really cool videos (umm, like jamiroquai!) that deserve to be seen! Sorry for going on a little rant there. _________________ This is our corner of the Earth |

Hey all,
Stu Z once told me about the time he worked with Stevie - one of his own (like many of ours) personal heros.
I remember in the email he talked about getting a phone call from Omar (there's nothing like this) saying that Stevie Wonder would be popping by the studio! I think it was some rediculous time in the morning when he popped by - but Stu was saying how amazing it was playing his bass with Stevie sat at the fender Rhodes!
I myself, or anyone I know, has never heard what they recorded - but at some point in the future I Stu atleast gives us a little sample _________________ Bass Transcriptions coming soon! |

I saw that Stevie/Alicia/Lenny performance when it was on and thought it was pretty good. If anyone has a video of it to download, let us know! |

I knew it was going to be Stevie Wonder.....haven't you noticed lately @ any US Music award special....whenever they say "And Special Surprise Guest" it's always Stevie Wonder??? Regardless he's a great artist but I wasn't surprised to see him when they made the prementioned quote. I will say it was an interesting but very pleasent combination of Stevie, Alicia, and Lenny. _________________ I used to worry about the future
