Canned Heat , reach Movies!
Ola
Funkin.com New:
The recently released movie Napoleon Dynamite features Jamiroquai's "Canned Heat" during one main scene with the title character dancing to the track. Hollywood movies rarely utilize Jamiroquai songs unless the tune was written for the movie (i.e. Deeper Underground), so this is something I don't believe we get to see very often. Hello Jamirotalkers,
Yes, thanks for finding the news EvoV, it is very nice to see (hear) Jamiroquai in cinema again. First it was on Godzilla (you can hear Deeper Underground in one part) and Little L on The Sweetest Thing with Cameron Diaz.

My friend told me about that one a while back. I haven't heard it or seen it myself though. _________________

Hello Jamirotalkers,
I found something very interesting about Canned Heat and the movie Napoleon Dynamite. I'll give you the part of it of the interview:
"M.E. RUSSELL: I'm a huge fan of "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai -- the song Napoleon dances to in the film's climax.
JON HEDER: Sweet, dude -- as are we. [As we shot the dance sequence], we played a couple of Jamiroquai songs -- but we were pretty sure we'd never get the rights. But there's nothing better to dance to than Jamiroquai.
Q. I understand you did your own choreography for that.
A. Actually, I didn't really even choreograph it. I pondered it for a few seconds, but dude -- I don't know how to choreograph! I told [director] Jared Hess, "Dude, I do best when I'm in front of a mirror, and I'm going with the flow -- so just throw on the music and I'll dance to the love." I mean, my preparation was just dancing in college -- in front of the mirror. No training.
Q. There's an incredible '80s vibe to the movie. There's that Jamiroquai song, sure -- but there are also moon boots and a girl wearing a ponytail on the side of her head. There's just a sort of timelessness.
A. Jared wanted to create this setting that was like a time capsule. They have the Internet, they have Backstreet Boys -- but there's no one there to keep them in check about what's up-to-date and what's cool and what's not. That's why you see people wearing '70s and '80s clothes, and you see people wearing the Hammer pants and Uncle Rico wearing all the '70s stuff…. I literally think of Preston, Idaho as a big attic where you throw all your stuff -- and you just don't throw stuff away."

Yea, that movie your talking about was Sliding Doors. I'll have to watch it again, I don't remember that part. _________________ This is our corner of the Earth |

Siding the doors of Jamiroquai in the movies...
Hello, :bm_r:
Yep, your right Beena, Jamiroquai's song "Use The Force" was in the soundtrack to the movie "Sliding Doors" . In another recent movie, Jamiroquai's song "Little L" was played in the Cameron Diaz romantic comedy "The Sweetest Thing". They need more Jamiroquai played in movies..hehe. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

I really liked "sliding doors", the part where you can hear "use the force" is when she is opening a restaurant in a very posh party, and "the other helen" stills working as a waitress in a bar.
I saw center stage too, but it was too gay for me. |

Hello there,
Since we were talking about Jamiroquai songs featuring in movies, I just read that "Main Vein" was used as background music in an episode of the HBO cable television series "Sex and the City".
