Stereophonic Sound of the Pizzicato Five!!!
Hello,
Another one of my personal favorite world music artists when growing up in the early 90s was the infectious music of the Pizzicato Five . Their sound very unorthodox, the best to describe it is if Austin Powers had been passing through Tokyo during the swinging 60s. The group, headed my Nomiya Maki and the versatile Yasuharu Konishi and other musicians, really created a special sound reminisicent of like a Japanese Sonny & Cher, always singing in Japanese but coupled with their distinct Burt Bacarach sound. Their breakthrough album here in the States was a compilation CD called "Made in the USA" from 1994, featured the mini-dance hit "Twiggy Twiggy Meets James Bond".
After that, they continued to put out spectacular albums, some examples: 1995's "The Sound of Music by the Pizzicato Five", 1997's "Happy End Of the World", 1999's "International Playboy & Playgirl" and their final American release album the bittersweet 2000's "The Fifth Release from the Pizzicato Five", P5 broke up after 2 different band member changes in 2002 . I strongly suggest if your looking for some really DIFFERENT music, check out the Pizzicato Five, yeah, the Japanese lyrics will take some time to get used too, but their sound is to die for! Thanks for listening and Peace! Viva The P5!!!!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000
