Hi !

You can get it on every "Space Cowboy" single & promos I think...
It's the "Radio Edit" version (3 min. 36 sec.), but there's 2 versions of the "Radio Edit" :
- The Normal one... Nothing to say...
- The censored edit (No "Cheeba Cheeba" in the tracks)
The second one is available on the US release of the single... A part of the video (the cannabis sleeves) had been censored too...

You've got to know that the best version of Space Cowboy is, for me, the "Stoned Again Mix", it's more or less the Radio Edit... unedited !
It's incredibly good, but hard to find (Available on the UK 12" release & on the Japan edition of the album "The Return Of The Space Cowboy").

See ya !

Max.

Diamond_Doc

here is an article about the censored version.

Link

Billboard: August 12, 1995, p. 35.

Jamiroquai Clip a Bust

Brett Atwood

Jamiroquai singer Jay K has rerecorded the controversial lyrics of his U.S. club hit "Return Of The Space Cowboy" for its video release. Some U.S. video outlets have expressed concern about an earlier edit of the clip, which could be interpreted as endorsing the use of marijuana.

"We're having a lot of trouble getting it played in the U.S.," says Jay K. "The controversy has a lot to do with pot and, to some extent, the freedom to choose whether or not to use it. The song has lots of meanings, but that seems to be the one that people are focusing on."

After an initially weary reaction to the clip's first edit, Jay K went into the studio and rerecorded part of the vocals.

For the video edit, the word "cheeba," which is slang for marijuana, was changed to "freeba." The lyric "gotta got high" was changed to "gotta get sly."

In addition, marijuana leaves that appear in the video have been digitally blurred so that they are not recognizable in the new clip.

"It's a good video, and I just want to make sure that it gets played," says Jay K. "I'm not saying that people should go out and stick needles in their arms, but I feel that I should be allowed to say what I want to say."

well ive seen the space cowboy edited video before when i used to live in France. Actually , the censored video is totally different from the original. For example, no one from the band execpt jay kay appears on the video. Also, the marijuana leaves were taken off and instead jay is dancing by doing some weird moves ( and i mean really really weird moves) like he s was on crack or something. But the question is, where can we find that video , caus i m sure a lot of people want to see it.

stoned again mix
well since I see that the stoned again mix is very hard to find, I'll try to get it online so u guys can get it, imagine the mix as the radio version but longer, sorta like the album version, has many many similarities.

Also there's the demo version, it's an utterly different sound, very "demo2 if u may and it's great, very calm and rare, I'll also try to upload it to a website soon.

In the meantime, ill find the time to upload it and the friggin internet time, a dialup with only 1 phone line really..REALLY sucks

yeh man is true, how can a remix be better than the album version?
and besides, the Classic Radio Remix is pretty cool, but it's not better than the album version of course...

a remix may not be better than the album version, but stoned again is not a remix but a version, is just recorded again in another way, like the demo version
