no, it's not a secret. actually, i am not really sure myself what it is. honestly, i am not really sure if the people who started it are sure what it is themself.
but as you might have seen on j.talk, it can get really annoying when people talk about that fannage-thing all the time.
there are a couple of threads at j.talk which try to explain what fannage is. maybe you'll find the answer there...
