What happened to Jamiroquai???
Alright. Let's forget FJLIS and face what happens to our favorite band. For me is irrefutable, unquestionable and indubtable that Jamiroquai is not he same band. It was better in 1993 to 1998. Of course JMQ lost its identity when Stuart left. Now we don't have Toby's skills too, one of the best keyboardist ever in UK. What we gonna do now people? Let's face it!!! If Jay wants to sound different we can do nothing about it. Lenny Kravitz, Britney Spears, whatever... let's wait the album and then judge it fairly. But since Syncronized we all know that JMQ is not the same. That is what makes me really sad too. In fact I won't judge it like horrible 'cause it's a 14seconds sample, only that.

buffaloman_R Hello, buffaloman_R

Hmm, well, Flauben, many factors contributed to the change of Jamiroquai, most notably the constant changes in bandmembers. But that really couldn't have been helped, yeah JK could have been much nicer or friendly to them, but you can force bandmembers to stay and play unless they are happy too and want to continue to contribute to the sound of Jamiroquai. As for the Jamiroquai sound per se, that is also something that couldn't be helped, I mean with sound landscape of the music market, you WILL have to change and modify the sound to meet the times. Yeah, my most fondest moments of being fannage were the early Jamiroquai years from late 1992 to early 1996, but everything has to change, it's the nature of music and being human. I mean, if you grow from being a overly imaginative child into a childlike adult with no inhibitions on how you are supposed to act like a adult, what would happen? You would falter in your life and lose those important changes to your personality that nature dictates in your development as a person. Wink So the same could be said of Jamiroquai, so don't feel too bad, at least we HAVE those earlier Jamiroquai albums to fall back on to remind ourselves of what and how that music ensnared our lives and made them so much better and recognizes of great music Wink! Thanks for listening and Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hello Jamirotalkers,

I said it another topic, but I'll write my opinion about this again.

Is not their fault, the original bandmembers are no longer there, so of course the sound will change, cause is not the same people playing. Jay can't play any instruments, so what you hear is the creation of the musicians of the band, you can't blame Jay, of course he is not too delighted of having different people around him too, and like us he has to adaptate to that change.

Much like Brent said, at least we have those 5 albums, but Im sure this 6th one will not be the exception. OK, maybe a few tracks that we don't like, the rest is gonna be good, they always put at least 2 tracks that we enjoy like crazy. And don't forget the live performances. We'll get a lot of bootlegs too! Very Happy

Jay has been "chasing the dragon" for a long time, if you now what I mean.

He´s voice is fucked up, and probabilly his mind too.

Watch any video of the Space Cowboy era and then play any of the a funk odyssey period. I almost cry

to snorry

your idea is clear.

but please remove your second statement, ok.

dont forget you can hurt other people feelings

with words like that. for example i love the track and AFO era .

so please express your opinion as everybody does but dont go too far ok.

i hope you'll see the point and do it. thanks. Wink

Thank you JamiroFan!
I just wanna say thank to JamiroFan. You are probably right. I really love Syncronized and AFO, I didn't mean to say that I don't like it. But we have to be truthful: acid-jazz, funk and instrumental stuff was the good times. Just ask yourself if you would be without it. We will be without it, JamiroFan. I just want to hear a trumpet again, I wanna hear the saxophone of Just Another Story, I want to hear the strong percussion of Use The Force, I'd be happy if I could hear a strong musicality of Revolution 1993. Just stop and think about. What about Space Cowboy. Have you guys thought what happened? And there's nothing to do about it. There's nothing left to do but pray.

if you guys want to comment on how JMQ has changed, then do it here.

if you guys want to complain on how JMQ has changed based on a 14-second clip, do it in the other topic.

The most worrying change for me is the decline in Jay's voice. Its just not as clear and pure as it used to be. Listen to AFO and then any of the previous four albums and spot the difference. Put it down to what you want, age, coke, cannabis its probably a mixture of all three but the fact remains the same. Its a shame, I'm not saying he still can't write some good music but I wonder if he could even perform some of the tracks from EOPE or ROTSC anymore. It'll be interesting to see how the voice sounds on the new album.
