Feels Just Like It Should (Timo Maas Remix)
Hi Jamirotalkers! 2wave

I just wanted to throw in a little piece of news I found:

A guy called Timo Maas has finished a remix of FJLIS. He announced this on his website in the discussion forum.

Quote:
I`m very proud to announce, that we just finished remixing the brandnew Jamiroquai Single "Feels just like it should"
Promos very soon on Sony/UK

As far as I know Timo Maas has worked with Depeche Mode and he is coming from Germany. That's all I know.

i have a feeling i already seen some of his videos on music channels..
very familiar name... but dont remember exactly who he is..
must be a great man!!!!!

btw it was funny to read this thing about remixes:

JAY: That's a situation that we've tried to eradicate this time by writing songs like "Alright" and "Cosmic Girl" that lend themselves more easily to be mixed without altering the original sound. Even if you were deaf and remixed it, there isn't a whole lot you could change about it.

Because it's 4-To-The-Floor to it anyway-- because I find it annoying when the record company pushes back the release of a signle in favor for waiting on remixes.

I mean shit...why work so long on the original track just to have it so completely altered it sounds like shit. And we record the original track live with real instruments, and by the time we get to live performance, because of the remixes, people are expecting us to be a house band. I find a lack of imagination in these remixes.DMA: Well, speaking of a lack of imagination, that brings us to David Morales...JAM / JAY: (very loud laughs)

I think I like where the direction of this conversation is going! (laughs)DMA: As a DJ, I can be very opinionated about remixes, so I can only imagine how you might feel hearing one of your tracks torn apart in the name of commercial success.

And listening to the latest David Morales remix of "Cosmic Girl" it's an obvious and mindless rip-off of his successful yet mindless "Space Cowboy" remix.JAY: Like the way he massacred it ("Cosmic Girl")? Razz Razz DMA: Not even that...just the way the intro alone is a complete rip-off of the intro for "Space Cowboy." Razz Razz

JAY: Precisely...that annoying "baa baa baa baa baa baa baa" crap.

But I'll tell you what is most annoying, besides that fucking dribble, is he had the audacity of putting DX7's (fake horns) in there and took out our live ones. We had three fucking live horn players on that track. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Razz

We should have just done the remixes in-house. In fact DJ Darrin (DJ Desire) [sic] has done some great remixes for us, and for the upcoming single "Alright." He's much much better
. He actually has an imagination.DMA: What about "Cosmic Girl"?JAY: Have you heard the "Cosmic Girl" remixes?DMA: You mean the Morales mixes?JAY: Arrgh! Crap. No, the double set that has our remixes. God damn it! You work on remixes yourself and they don't even get released in exchange for that other crap![Jay begins to have a heated discussion in the background over remix releases with a record exec. and the exec. offers to send me out a copy of the additional remixes-- Jay is noticeably perturbed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i'll explain: YAMAHA DX 7 which Jay mentioned is a very old synth from early 80s which was a revolution for 80s was very popular, (Listen to M Jackson's 80s LPs , even "Bad")
but it sounds kinda not serious and funny nowadays..
so these comparison Jay used was very funny for me!! Very Happy Very Happy
sorry for this unexpected outburst, Meike Embarassed Very Happy
Hello Jamirotalkers AFO hat
Great news, thanks Meike Wink
This is the first official confirmation, remember when Roger Sanchez was suposed to remix one of JMQ's song for this new album? I wonder what happened with that.
Here's a small profile of Timo Maas:
Self-styled purveyor of 'percussive wet funk'. Producer and remixer of more than 85 productions in three years, including classics like Orinoko's 'Mama Konda' (Top 20 UK & US club charts). DJ'd everywhere from Germany's 'Love Parade' to London's 'Turnmills' and Chicago's 'Karma'. Timo Maas is a man sick of the "cheesy shit" that clogs up the clubs and the charts, stifling creativity: "I like the idea of building up a unique sound, of working with different sounds to create something new and fresh. I suppose I may always be the underdog but at least I won't have sold out like some other German acts.
You can read more here.
Cool cover. I think FJLIS deserved his 'dance' version. Let's see what happens with all those "yaahho"... "and it feels it feels it feels"... burn
'You've got to help those people break that legislation'
Timo Maas you say Rolling Eyes
Well, his style is from trance techno to house & progressive house (I know Jay said something against progressice house and trance in some interview)
I like his track with Kelis - Help me. Otherwise, don't like him much.
I'm sure this remix won't be something revolutionary because this single's definitely aimed to mainstream Rolling Eyes
