Jamiroquai Info: A Journey Behind The Scenes V
Hello Jamirotalkers,
After mtey put on his site the old Jamiroquai.com, I went to the 'old news' section and I read everything, with a 5th post of Behind The Scenes- Jamiroquai in mind. I thought it would be the same, but I found some interesting pieces of information that you'll like it, if you read the previous ones:
Journey Behind The Scenes - Part I
Journey Behind The Scenes - Part II
Journey Behind The Scenes - Part III
Journey Behind The Scenes - Part IV
Journey Behind The Scenes - Part V:
-Jamiroquai turned down the chance to record a theme to the Euro 2000 soccer competition saying they were too busy.
-Prodgy's Liam Howlett was supposed to make a remix for 'Supersonic', that was going to be included in the 'Black Capricorn Day' Single.
-In different 'Synkronized' booklets appears: 'Destitute Illusion' and 'Destitute Illusions'; 'Where Do We Go From Here' and 'Where Do We Go From Here?'
Also in the Australian booklet:
Page one and two are the same
3 has no image of Jay
4 is like the US page 9
5 is the production credits
6 is the mirror in the Grass
7 has a photo of Jay in an orange furry jacket and matching hat with a stupid grin on his face
8 has a serious photo of Jay with a back background
9 is the thankyous where there are some extra lines
"A masive thankyou to Roy Edmondson & Levis for their continued help and support
Many thanks to Gaby Strassburger & Bolker at Hugo Boss for their generosity."
10 is the mirror in the grass
11 is black
12 is the mirror in water
13 and 14 are the same
-Jamiroquai was going to record a song for a James Bond film... twice. The second time, Garbage signed to record it. However, the official site said that the demo song for the film was gonna be re-recorded as a B-side song of a future single off from 'Synkronized'.
-During 1999, Earth Wind & Fire were planning a new album, and Jay Kay was supposed to sing in it (or maybe write a song), along with Lenny Kravitz, Mary J Blidge and Lauryn Hill.
-After 'Canned Heat', there were rumours of choices for the second single, including 'Soul Education' (who had it's own edit, aired on different radios) and 'Black Capricorn Day' (that actually was released as a single only in Japan). Also, 'Black Capricorn Day' was going to be the 4th single.
-For the week of September 11, 1999, Canned Heat was #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music / Club Play chart after ten weeks of charting.
-Jamiroquai had rejected an offer from the BBC to do a fly on the wall documentary because the money wasn't good enough.
-In 1999, 'Supersonic' became the 4th most expensive music video ever made.
-The 5th single of 'Synkronized', was going to be in fact the title track 'Synkronized', with an initial release date on April 2000 in UK/ Europe. Stuart Zender does not play in that song. Also, the official site said that after Derrick returns from his honeymoon, they were going to record several 'new' tracks to be release on the first half of 2000.
-A song for the movie 'Snatch' was also in the plans. Toby said that the song has lots of live drums and a strong bassline, and that featured vocals from Beverley Knight (I thought 'Main Vein', but it doesn't have LIVE drums actually).
-This is the official statement of why Wallis is not on 'A Funk Odyssey': "Wallis Buchanan, the funky dread sporting, didgeridoo playing, long time Jamiroquai band member is not appearing on the new album 'A Funk Odyssey'. No didge tracks or instrumentals were written for the new album which features some different musical styles from hard edged funk to jazzy latin flavours to turbo powered disco. Meanwhile Wallis has taken some time out to work on his own projects. We're sure we'll be seeing him again real soon!".
'But soon you're going to find, you should have started talking straighter'

I think the answer is the US market. But why they didn't make for other big budget films, I don't know. I believe that after the low sales of Synkronized, they thought it would be better to start from scratch the writing of the songs (not like with Synk, they had to record everything twice) for the new album, maybe they were sick of the songs of Synk and they wante new material. That is what I think. The release of the single 'Synkronized' and stuff like that.
'Search the universes'
