Log Out "Jamirofunk"
Dear Jamirotalk,

Disapoitment. This is the word and the feeling that has been wondering my head in the last couple of hours.
The main reason that led me into the registration and participation in this forum was to share, inform, debate, over the band that we owrship, Jamiroquai.
We all know how difficult it is to get Jamiroquai files, like audio or video clips, news, info.
And we all have in our memories the lack of respect, from the Webmaster at Jamiroquai.com, regarding in submiting any news or information from Jamiroquai.
That beeing said it was clear that this forum was a "Dug Out" for all Jamiroquai Fans.
This his, sorry let me refrase that, THIS WAS a place of SHARE!!!
I trully believe that the moderators of this forum wish the best to all it's participants. However, i don't believe that the "moderation" has been fair.
I had just received a sunshine news, regarding the new single.
And, my first action, was to share it, because i believe in sharing, and critisize thoose who don't.
I was acused of practicing "piracy". I'm not a "pirate" yet i'm a "sharer".
If some consider what i was doing piracy then i sugest that you look at some of the posts here in the forum regardind the share of some "piracy", videos, audio clips, etc. Isn't that piracy as well? Isn't that "piracy in general" as well?
So, if this forum as a tendecy to twist the principles that they guide for, I, for once, don't want to be part of it in anyway.
It seems to me, after reading the message that "Cosmic Mouse" sent me, that some people already had the new single.
So, as of this moment i will no longer post any messages nor replys at Jamirotalk.net.
I am logging out, permanetly.
And now, i can understand, better why "Evov" left the forum as well.
That beeing said, i wish all of the members of this forum the best of luck, regarding the forum.
Goodbye.

a Portuguese Fan,

Pedro Guerreiro

P.S. I leave you with the message that i was sent.

"Hi there!

I can understand your excitement!
But I had to remove your message because jamirotalk does not support piracy at all. There are a few reasons for it. I hope you understand my point:

It's illeagal to spread the song around and I don't want to get into trouble or have to close the site in worst case.

I don't want to give up the good relations that we have build up with bandmembers (who are reading here from time to time!).

Another thing is my attitude to piracy in general. I am supporting Jamiroquai and I don't want to see the release ruined.

What you do silently in private I don't care. But please don't spread it around like mad. And don't involve jamirotalk.

Thanks! )

Meike"

Frustration. This is the word and the feeling that is wondering my head whenever I am reading such a message. 2guilty

Dear Pedro,

sharing is a wonderful thing. Yes, in general I agree with you!

But, even if I can fully understand your position (except your decision to get so upset), there are still a few things that are solid facts and a few things that you are mixing up in your farewell letter:

1. You can call it "sharing" - the legal definition remains to be "piracy".

2. Man, all you have been asked is, not to involve the Jamirotalk forum whenever you decide to "share" stuff, that you would not "share", if one of the Jamiroquai officials or the police would sit beside you.
This IS the Jamiroquai community. It IS a place for sharing: sharing information, opinions, news and stuff that can legally be shared. It is NOT a place to share stuff, that has to be bought or that we are not meant to have yet. Why? Because of following reasons:
a) We have promised to prevent illegal sharing on Jamirotalk.
b) We can't afford to pay penalties to SONY, if they bring an action against us.
c) Even if we could afford to pay penalties, we would not be willing to, because costs and time-efforts for operating this forum seem to be enough contribution to the community.

And this all has not changed since Jamirotalk got online three years ago. Thus, there was no "twisting of principles".

3. That is the reason why we have to intervene, if a member states: "I have it! I give it to you! Use me as source!". This is a very captious offer. The conclusion from this of course is: what you do or not do, if someone approaches you - this we can not control and thefore we do not care.

4. As far as I know, Evo has left for completely other reasons.

Finally, a message that has been sent to you via the private message system (PM) is what it is: a private message. You can draw two conclusions:

a) Whatever information you exchange with other members via private message is not visible to the public (and therefore can not bring Jamirotalk into trouble). 2scratchchin

b) A private message that has been sent to you from CosmicMouse is not meant to be posted publicly. This is a breach of confidentiality. But we leave it in your post, because same applies to everyone.

All this said, I really think that there is no reason to leave Jamirotalk. I hope you understand the coherencies a little better now. If not, please PM me. However, there is no bad attitude from our (moderators) side and CosmicMouse has not accused you of anything. She only described our (Jamirotalk's) legal situation. If you can't understand and accept this, then I happily accept your going away - if you understand and accept now, I ask you to stay.

Regards,
Miran aka funkmaster
