I would have been REALLY impressed if they had J's Joint! Alas, we will never see the likes of that again...
R.I.P. J's Joint

Thank you Ezzi, for that very useful info.
:D Come on Ezbe, tell us more about J's Joint.
What did it look like? What could you find in it? I have been on the net for 1 year only, so I guess I missed it. _________________ ?Now I've got that sunshine in my life? |

Well, I'm sure the likes of David Rowe could tell you more about that, cos my memoy has never been good at detail! I quote from the FAQ:

What about J's Joint?
J's Joint is Jamiroquai's old official site which opened its doors on 19th June 1995 and closed in February 1997. According to the HyperMedia Research Centre (HRC), the former home of J's Joint, "Our relationship with Sony S2 has ended and we have pulled the plug. After nearly two years of fun with Jamiroquai the band has moved on." Let's hope they can still be friends.

I first got into the net at uni in 1996, and J's Joint was the first website I went to. The address was put on the front of singles for TROTSC. It had an animated "house" that you could kinda walk through and it had loads of cool features. There was a message board, a place where you could make "shouts" about issues related to jamiroquai, like the environment. And there were links and pieces on the same kinds of issues. I hooked up with so many fans in those days. Don't forget, the internet was just becoming common, so to find such a brilliant place where you could actually talk to other Jami fans was great. I also found about Jamline and Funkin through J's Joint. It was much more lively and creative than the sites Sony ran, and the current official site. I hope one day those pages can be resurrected from somewhere so all fans can see Jamiroquai's first presence on the net.

man ezbe, you make j's joint sound real cool, and it must have been. if only i could share the nostalgia... *sigh*
anyways i've found some tidbits here and there about the old site.
here's a nice description:
J's Joint - a highly-acclaimed Web site built for Jamiroquai, a Sony Music
act. Alongside audio-visual samples and news from the band, the site
includes a virtual house constructed out of 3-D cartoons. J's Joint also
contains information about ecological issues, such anti-roads campaigns, and
discussion zones for fans to send messages to the band and each other. This
Web site is developing into a lively virtual community for fans of
Jamiroquai and those concerned about the environment.

there's another interesting article that involves J's Joint. but part that calls jamiroquai a 'then-popular musician'... harrUMPH!
http://www.poptel.org.uk/nuj/mike/censor.htm
and another that mentions j's joint but no mention of the band and indulges in some deep and seemingly artsy stuff... go figure.

dyaamm...wish I too could muse on j's joint. it would kick ass if it were started again..or maybe not, part of the allure is that it's passed on and it's something to look back on (for those who went there) |

If Jay's Joint were around now it'd probably end up being destroyed. Remember a year or so ago when the official site actually had some good news/ information? Now the only good thing is the store... but I say that cos I'm just so happy with my Buffalo man pin |
