Friendship: how do YOU define it.
hello fellow funksters (and a special wink to all the Aussie ones).
it was bought up in another topic about friendship, and i was wondering how YOU specifically define friendship.
Laughing together? fighting? trust? say what you want, just keep it rockin', baby.
i'll add my 5 cents later when i have time.
General Pietro out.
PS: Australia has the best friends you will ever find. Well, make up your own mind about that one . |

i define friend as a person that always tells you the truth...
and say which things are not alright when you think there are OK....
if you have a person abdulating you all the day, that's not a friend... he's a faker... a friend must know how and when to say the things to another one, and a friend is that person who accepts you the way you are... not cos you have million dollars or you're beautiful or you have flash cars...
friend is that person that is always on your side, and helps you when you need some help... friend is that person with you can share great moments... a friend is just that person, that wants to be with you and have a nice time... that's one of the important things in my life... the worst thing is that some "friends" kicked my ass before, and changed me for anothers... we must know how to choose our friends.... and now i'm an expert on that... heheh
bye friends (cos i consider most of you like friends....)

I think a key factor with friends is being able to feel completely comfortable in their company. You never feel under obligation to do anything or say anythnig. I know with my friends its great to be able to feel relaxed enough to not even need to talk when you're together. With people you don't know well I hate it when there is an awkard silence & you are desperately thinking of something to say! With my friends it feels just as comfortable & natural to be quiet when you're together as it does to be talking away non-stop... |

I agree with you Virtually Insane, about the silence thing.
Btw, who said that "friends are those who love you even if they know you"? Oscar Wilde, maybe? |

"Friendship is like a flower : you need to take care of it, because it will die if you forget about it"
"A friend is not the person who dries your tears, but the one who doesn't make you cry "
"True friends are those who are with you, not only during your good times , but specially during your bad times "
"A friend is a light shining in the darkness "
Friend... isn't incredible the fact that only one word can mean so many positive things at the same time?
The best friends I've ever had are the ones I've met thanks to Jamiroquai, specially in this forum. I wish my arms were long enough so I could hug you all at the same time, and my voice were loud enough so you could hear me saying "I love you all so much!"
Finally, the final fUnK[iLo]'s definition:
"A friend is the most valuable treasure a person could ever have"
Bye guys! Kisses to all of you! _________________

Nice quotes Flor
All of the friends I have, I value for different reasons as each person has their own very special and unique qualities. This is why I find it quite difficult to define the word 'friend'.
In general terms, I suppose you could say a friend is a person who like, love, trust and treat as you would like to be treated yourself.

A good friend takes you, as you are. With all your good and bad sides. Therefore I agree with Virtually insane, with good friends you really feel comfortable, weather you are in a mood to chat or if you prefer to stay silent. You don't have to play a role, just be yourself, and it is accepted.
You can see if you have real good friends more in bad times than in good times...it is so easy to party and laugh with people, but that might mean nothing, if you need someone for a serious talk. Many people only be as long a "friend" as everything is funny and easy. Forget about those.
Yes Flor, a good friendship needs a lot of time and "work", to keep it up, especially in the beginning. But real long lasting friendships can bear a lot!!! People change through the years, some struggle in their jobs for career, others are occupied in families with kids for some time, interest develop, some move to some other place. I have many real good friends since my childhood and teenager times. Although our ways separated within many times and it might take some months until we see again... there is just a hug and a look into each others eyes...and it it is like it always was That are real friends. _________________

A Friend!
I think my best friend is Jesus Christ. He knows everything about me, so I can come to him with everything that I am and have. He comes to me when I ask him too and shows me how to understand and love other people. I'm more than happy to anounce right now that my best friend is he!
Take care all of you!

This was an interesting topic in "offtopic" by Pietro. A lot of people really took care to express about what they think about friendship.
Why do I have the feeling that now I am in a joky chat room? Don't get me wrong, I like joking a lot too and it is surely an expression of friendship too, but this seems to go "offtopic in offtopic"? May be only my own impression. _________________
