Jamirocraft Issue#1
Acknowledgements to those who gave me this idea and who have possibly done this before me (inc. Kriss Kross)
In this issue we will look at creating your own JMQ-themed painting! Perfect to add to the ambience of any room, or simply to display your love of the band.
I have chosen to do the sleeve artwork of the Emergency On Planet Earth album, because it's colourful and features the whole band.
I began by tracing the actual cover art using baking paper: (sorry about the bad photos my camera is undergoing repairs and have used phone instead)
Once it had been traced directly, i drew a 1cm grid over the paper. This is to make the replication of the image on the canvas easier.
I then went out and bought a canvas of roughly 2:1 ratio, and it only cost 10 dollars from "hot dollar". I then calculated how many times bigger this canvas was compared to the original traced image. I got a difficult answer of 3.333333333. So, each square on the canvas would be 3.3333cms. I drew up the grid on the canvas, and thus it was relatively easy to replicate the image.
Here it is right now, still with some details to be filled in in the background and the middle:
Once i start painting i will show you how it comes along! |

Yeah jay88, it's a really cool idea of painting you're own Jamiroquai-artwork. I finished my sketch recently and started painting now. It's gonna take a while I think, because of all the colors.
Using a grid is very easy (I used it once for a Buffaloman), but I'm painting directly from the EOPE-CD-inlay, and I'm not drawing a grid over that one!
Still I think it looks nice... take a look at the sketch:
I will show some more pics in the recent future... _________________
